Taken long enough for this site to be redevelop.

Too bad they didn't go after the 6 story apartment building and made it part of this development with a tall apartment and using the same podium size as one piece.

The owners in the ELLIA condos are going to be piss as this will block their views and sure they will be at all meets bitching about it.

Great to hear! I'm not surprised the developer wants something a bit higher than the Ella Condos...there should be an LRT stop right at this intersection.
There is an LRT at Central Parkway (CP) which is dumb in one sense as there is less density at this intersection then there is at Elm. Also Elm has the 3 & 8 routes there as well as well a Adult school and 3 time the ridership of CP.

Now, will they finally build on the south corner that was supposed to happen years ago?

Who owns the land on that corner?

Once again, Mississauga show how dumb they are as well talk a good story for density and for transit by refusing this development. The city love building in the park with no integration with the street. One only has to look to the north at Edge Towers to see this. Once again, height is an issue and no reason for it at this location.

The developer needs to buy that apartment building next to this site to create a better site and more density. I guess the Amacon Folks next to this site are bitching about loosing their view with a tall tower in front of them if this goes ahead.

RECOMMENDATION REPORT (WARD 7) Applications to permit a 40 storey, 360 unit apartment building with ground floor retail commercial uses, 3480 Hurontario Street, northwest corner of Hurontario Street and Central Parkway West Owner: CGIV Developments Inc. File: OZ 17/005 W7 Michael Hynes, Planner, provided an overview of the Recommendation Report with respect to the Applications and spoke to several outstanding issues regarding setbacks, height, lack of amenity space and recommended refusing the application. Councillor Iannicca moved the following motion, which was voted on and carried:
RECOMMENDATION PDC-0056-2018
1. That City Council direct Legal Services, representatives from the appropriate City Departments and any necessary consultants to attend the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) hearing proceedings which may take place in connection with these applications under File OZ 17/005 W7, 3480 Hurontario Street, CGIV Developments Inc, in support of the recommendations outlined in the report dated May 25, 2018 that concludes that the proposed official plan amendment and rezoning applications are not acceptable from a planning standpoint and should not be approved.
2. That City Council provide the Planning and Building Department the authority to instruct the City Solicitor on modifications to the position as may be deemed necessary during or before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal hearing process; however, if there is a potential for settlement, then a report shall be brought back to Council by the City Solicitor.

To be fair, though, it's located in an area with towers in the park so it needs to blend in.
No it doesn't as this is a good time to start build street edge buildings.

Can't see the City stopping this development as it meets the place to grow as well there will be a 50s tower just to the north of it at Elm. Then you got the LRT in front of it with a stop there.

The reason the city is opposing it is not the height but the small size/footprint of the site. Even from google maps you can tell that the site is much smaller that the ones on Elm or the new proposal at Hurontario and Fairview.

A street edge building would look out of whack with the buildings across the street, as much as I like the idea. Besides it couldn't really be a tower in the park because of the size of the site. I also don't think it would affect LRT ridership either.
