Not sure if there is a thread for this but just noticed the other day that 2 St. Clair Ave. West - formerly the Procter and Gamble building back in the day - is being repainted! Or maybe it's just a primer before they repaint it to its original colour. TD Centre went through a similar process - white primer and then black paint. Hopefully that's the case here too.

It looks like the black is the final colour, as that section was already primed that silver colour a few weeks back. It does make the buliding look much better.

Anyone know who the architect was of the original building? Once tried to look it up but came up short. It was a much more interesting building at-grade pre-renovation (in the '80's I believe) when there was a walkway that passed underneath and cut the corner.

I think it might've been WZMH. (Oh, as for the paint job: one may recall similar momentary changes in the recent TD Centre tower renos.)

Not sure if this fits here or elsewhere (various Yonge Street properties?) but they've been drilling core samples in the parking lot behind 2 St Clair for the last week. Anybody have any ideas?

The only thing I know about the area is that Slate Asset Management owns 2 and 30 St Clair W (the building adjacent), along with 6 other buildings in the corridor.

The lobby of 2 St Clair was recently renovated, and they've been talking about replacing the corner store with a restaurant.

But not sure what core sampling would be for. Any development would be on a small envelope and impede the view of existing clients with north-facing offices.
