I'll put a couple of bucks down on Lanterra having scooped up the lot, and that a Clewes-designed tower called Torcello will soon be announced for this site.

It was purchased by Mayfair Properties from Vancouver for $11,750,000. They have been looking for a boutique hotel/condo location in toronto for a while now.

That's interesting to hear, and will bring more variety than my tongue-in-cheek prediction of another Lanterra/aA tower on this stretch (although who knows about the architecture at this point...).

Mayfair Hotels and Resorts owns and operates hotels for quite a range of brands, so who knows which chain a hotel here would join. Mayfair's properties are all midrange (save one called 'The Landis'), and include Best Western, Hampton Inn, Days Inn, Holdiay Inn, Travelodge, and a number of untethered locations, so who knows how this one would go...

^Toronto could certainly use some brand new 4 star quality stock. It ain't exactly cheap to sleep here and no matter how extensive or often the renovations, those mid-seventies hotel towers are still outdated
