Easy - somebody who drives a Hummer on the streets of Toronto when there isn't the need for such vehicles. What's wrong with judging people according to their behaviour?

Right on, Auto! I'm about to hit the big 60 and I just bought myself an Audi TT convertible. It's not very comfortable, the driver's seat is a little tight for my slightly wide ass, but by God it's beautiful. It's not new, 2008, but it's all I can afford. It's something I couldn't afford when I was younger. Now all I need is a big boobed blond to sit beside me and we can cruise downtown TO and look at skyscraper porn! By the way, are there any on this forum?

Why on Earth would someone living downtown and working downtown need a car unless they were visiting another city every day? I just find that to be so ridiculous. We in the western world have things way too good.

I live and work downtown and don't NEED a car by any means. But I have one anyway. Comes in handy for when I visit the 'burbs.

So, getting back on topic…

Dont get it...if you have the dinheiro, why not drive what makes you happy......life is short my friends

Because if everybody had that attitude Toronto and the rest of the world would implode.

Wow, judge much? I'm not sure who is more ignorant, you or somebody who drives a Hummer.

While I'm judging, I will also add any large SUV's such as Escalades to my a$$hole category.

To be clear, I don't care if someone spends hundreds of thousands on a nice car - I might question their judgement unless they are extremely wealthy, but to each their own. What I have a problem with is selfish, obnoxious behaviour at the expense of others. A hummer is grotesquely inefficient, extremely large and unwieldy, and completely unnecessary. Big inefficient vehicles cause excessive pollution, waste resources, endanger drivers pedestrians and cyclists alike, and they are a vulgar symbol that is designed to say "you don't matter, get out of my way". My TDI gets roughly 4X (four times) the fuel economy of a hummer, and I rarely drive it. I walk or bike almost everywhere.
Speaking of judgmental, if one were to drive around in many parts of Europe in a hummer or an escalade, not only would you be taxed into oblivion, but you would get more dirty looks that you can imagine. In Canada we are not self governing as a society, we rely on police and other 'officials' to tell us what to do. We behave like children in the absence of rules. I would say we should all be more judgmental, but in a city where Rob Ford gets elected, I better be careful what I wish for.

+++100000000!! It truly is a class thing, and proves that having wealth certainly doesn't equate to having class. Ive known too many friends from Saudi and Pakistan who would disagree with me however, but then status and prestige is extremely important to them. I find those large SUV's to be extremely offensive as well neubilder.

Maybe it's time to move this car discussion to a separate topic in "Toronto Issues"? It is interesting topic on its own, but it does not belong here. Each time I see new post I am having false alarm re bridge mounting...

This isn't the thread to be discussing your feelings on 'judging' other people. Back on topic please.

Can someone remind me what the finish product is supposed to look like. I can't find any renderings. Is it going to be two stories? It's going to be actual liveable space correct? Not just a walkway between the buildings. Any idea on price.

The bridge is 2 stories, but each floors is a double floor (18 feet approx). The bottom floor is an amenity (party room and pool tables) with a glass floor. The top floor will be split into two penthouses, which will also have some space in their respective towers.

Concord told me that each penthouse is selling for approximately $7 million each, and are still available.

Interesting. I kind of think it's a waste to make the bottom floor a party room with pool tables. Better value to sell it for another $14 million.

When I look at the structures now I'm trying to visualize how the view out of this bridge is going to be. Seems like a lot of structural steel in the way of a clear view. Unless the zig-zag part is actually going to be the bottom not the side.

If the view is nice, it would a waste not to have the bridge enjoyable by at least the residents of the building. Why build this dramatic and potentially iconic link so that one or two people can enjoy it? That would be anticlimactic. The approach taken is a good one, attaining a combination of amenities space for the prominence of the space and residences for the value. Everyone will be curious about the bridge; giving all residents the opportunity to take visitors there will make it a great amenity and use of space.

Hmm.... if the bottom floor is an amenity floor - wouldn't there be issues with noise for the owners above? what if there was a rawdy crowd? I'd hope there would be a good investment in sound barrier...
