I'm really not sure why the bridge was named. Seems silly IMO. Architectually the bridge is like every other bridge around.

I see that a lot in the States...named bridges. Although most of our 'grand bridges' are named here as well. I also noticed in the last few years Cleveland and Detroit have done a lot of 'bridge beautification'. Since you often see these cities from the freeway below, it makes sense in a way...

And a lot of those USA named bridges are "like every other bridge around" too, maybe even more so than this one...

Sudbury has a couple named bridges as well named after two cops who where killed on the job. And I'm sure there other cities in Ontario that name overpasses as well.
