No, she's not Celine Dion, but she's also not appreciably more than Sheryl Crow. The odd Feist would be fine, but when the entire landscape is littered with them, it's hard not to want more.

Not everyone is so comfortable with the status quo. And anyway, your mockery is nothing new. Toronto's old, moldy, self-appointed establishment have been putting on airs like this forever. You're crass and uncouth as soon as you yearn for something beyond the usual (in this case dull old Toronto-modern). I wonder if the change over from being a young idealist to an old fuss-budget is noticeable; do you just wake up one day, annoyed forever after?

Jesus! This is taking forever... Not even half done yet. I think they still may be cladding this wing when they begin taking down the hoarding on Dundas... :eek:
 
... speaking of which. I think we can begin to speculate when the Dundas hoarding will begin to come down.

Once they finish glazing Galeria Italia, there is little to justify closing that lane and sidewalk. I think we'll see an early spring removal of the hoarding along Dundas. Maybe as early as April.

From The Webcam: Looks like things are really coming along on the East end of the front facade.

So, I ran down with my camera and got these snaps. Wood! - not just steel for the overhanging wings, which is something to see - and the fact that the curves of these external ribs inversely continue the angle of their counterparts inside the Galleria Italia is stylishly wonderful.

Looking better and better with every new piece added to the puzzle. The "tears" (torn ends) are rather fascinating at the moment.

Although this may seem like a small detail, I am very curious to see how the Dundas visor will be finished along its bottom edge.

What I am hoping we will see is a band of blue titanium running below the current lower edge of the visor to cover up the floor joists, and then one more band of glass sheltering the sidewalk arcade. The overall effect of that visor is going be quite something.

There was titanium on the shield in the original design but it was converted to all glass in the final.

They're following this model pretty closely. I don't see why they'd change now. I think we can expect a glass lip like in the model.
 
This just gets freakin' better and better!!!!

Please....please...please lets get some streetscaping for the area.
