now that's a up-to-the-minute post !! haha :D

They've added steel beams on to the podium, presumably to frame the rest of the lobby and podium floors

Saw those steel beams briefly tonight, sticking up out of the podium - quite impressive....

Was in town this weekend, I happened to be in the neighbourhood Saturday afternoon, so I went to have a look at the Ritz:

Then, as I was standing there, this showed up:

They started hooking up the crane, and lifting the giant girder off of the trailer:

Unfortunately, I couldn't stick around to watch them lift it up, but a little while later, I wandered back to see the giant steel girder being installed in its new home:

Great shots Ziggy-thanks a lot for making that possible. Also, I would suspect that things will start to role quite quickly with regards to the entrance/podium/lobby now.

The really interesting part now will be to see how they construct the extended over-hanging floors above.

I have my theory which is probably the most general one anybody can think of, but it will be interesting to watch. I'm waiting until it's all done so I can stand beside the southern wall and look straight up. I reckon it might feel like the building is leaning over and falling down
