With all these rainy days I finally managed to get a break and head over to the Leslie St. Spit/Tommy Thompson Park, which is only open on the weekends. The southern most tip of it is about the same as the southern point on the Toronto Islands. There's also a great view from the hill where the lighthouse is. I'm planning to go there again during the fall and winter to see the natural landscape change with the seasons.

Enjoy!

Really really great photos. I need to get down there again. I've only been once. I'd really like to get some of those old bricks with the holes in them.

Those are incredible photos!

What's the deal with Hearn? Is it still being used, or are they getting the wrecking ball out?

The beavers are cute and all, but unfortunately they are cutting down all the trees along Cherry Beach and some in Ashbridges Bay.

1.) Beavers are a rodent and the bane of any canoeist. I can't count the number of times I have had to get out in the middle of a river and drag boats over their bloody lodges. Like speed bumps of the canoeing super highway. I can't believe we took them as our national animal.

2.) Where did all of the rebar come from? I know beaches get polluted, but the sheer tangle of rebar here seems a bit surprising. Long shore drift?

Rebar doesn't float. Its too heavy.

The spit is entirely manmade. Buildings torn down in the city are dumped out here. Excavation fill is also dumped out here. The Bay Adelaide stump and the Trump dirt are probably out here somewhere.

So, this is where my old concrete porch went! The dumpster company insisted no organic material be in it.
