They tell you violence is down

They will say it is down 2.35 % or
something like that but what they
won't say is down from what???
In 2000 Ontario had 103,000 violent
incidents in 2005 I think it was 97,000.
That is what I look at, the big picture
violent incidents. Texas in 2000 had
116,000 and they have 23 million people.
Sure you might say replying to this Texas
had 1,200 murders but who got murdered???
The reason Texas has a lower violent rate is
many people carry guns.
I know most people will say guns is not the
answer, I go along with that as long as our
crown attorneys and judges will go after
maximum sentences for violence but they
won't so I am against being unable to protect
yourself.

There is no logical reason in this world why we
decent law abiding citizens should be puting up
with this crap day after day. The crap of having
a poor justice system and poor legislation to protect
us. We really deserve better.

I fail to see why we should emulate the American model. While we might not be able to prove that a lack of strong gun control leads to the higher rate of violent crime in the US, it certainly hasn't done much to curb it.

I for one would choose not to live with fear of death everywhere in the form of guns and the death penalty. That's why it makes me laugh to think that Texas thinks of itself as a "pro-life" state. Pro-life for who?

Your whole premise is faulty. Texas seems to use a slightly different definition of violent crime, as their property crime rate is nearly double Ontario's. It's one of those "lies, damn lies, and statistics" things.

I don't think emulating the USA is the answer
but it sure does make for cheering and clapping
everytime some intruder gets his time.
If we added (I am saying IF) say 7 years
to people convicted of violent crime what
would the total number if violent incidents
fall to??? I am sure people could easily
figure that out.

We got weak laws, weak crown attorneys and
weak judges, all three we need to protect us
and it isn't there in Canada.
