Preliminary Report - Official Plan Amendment and Rezoning Application - 620 Avenue Road and 215-217 Lonsdale Road

http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2008/te/bgrd/backgroundfile-11651.pdf

This application proposes to demolish a 5-storey, 44-unit, rental apartment building at 620 Avenue Road. The proposal is for an 18-storey, 58-unit, residential condominium building with 108 underground parking spaces.

Edit: Diamond and Schmitt Architects have been retained by Minto for the project.

Interesting. That notice had been there for some time. There's another small rental building on the opposite side of the street, just north of Heath, that's being gutted and prepared for demolition. Haven't checked for a zoning application there though.

Does anyone have any new info on this? Has the city approved it? Minto is a solid reliable builder. Should do this area justice.

This one will be a fight with the city and area residents. Approvals won't happen for a while, this one will likely go before the OMB.

Because the local residents will kick up a fuss and the local councillor will side with the ratepayers association. Unfortunately that's how the planning system often works in Toronto and why the OMB isn't going to go anywhere no matter how much the mayor or Christopher Hume continue to bash it. At the end of the day a decision based on the merits or the application and evidence is required rather then a decision based on local politics.

Right on! While the OMB gets bashed, absolutely nothing would get accomplished without it.

We go up 14 floors more and gain 14 unites well tearing down 2 nice homes???????

Forget it.

Time to put my NIMBY hat on, which I wear very rarely.

So they want to demolish that nice house? Why not compromise: leave the house alone, and demolish that ugly-as-sin apartment block, and double the height so they can make their money without touching the nice home.
