Agreed about the "everyday" pictures of Paris. I really miss this city, can't wait to go back.

There is this tradition of 'messy urbanism' in France that is in such stark contrast to the glories of formal French landscaping, design and architecture. I love the contradiction.

... and the messy urbanism there is never lazy or slovenly, however. There is still style and flavour to it all, it's just not fussy and over planned. I find Rome to be 'messy' in this way too.
