18 Yonge Condos (H&R, Lanterra Developments and Malibu Investments) - Real Estate -

18 Yonge

I've been viewing the buildings in this area the last two months. Covered the majority. My criteria was 2BR + 2 bath and parking to own. Time line is before the winter. The reviews and advice on here are helpful but I couldn't find a lot anywhere about the older ones like 18 Yonge. Would like an opinion other than my agents.

18 Yonge: Saw suites on the 38-39th floor, the prices seem good relative to the other buildings. The view isn't bad and can't see anything obstructing it in the near future unless they build another condo in the other lot across the ACC on Bay. So that brings up the question...too good to be true, what's wrong with this place?

I viewed the Pinnacle buildings on the other side of the gardiner and didn't like the congestion.

I didn't see much of a difference in congestion between this building and the Pinnacle/Success complex - what do you mean by that?

What's interesting though is if you plug in "18 Yonge" into google maps, 4 different escort agencies show up in the list of "selected businesses at this address"... !
I didn't even notice that on the various CityPlace building listings.

wow, talk about brazen.
one has a website looking for applicants/employees ... looks like they're mostly Eastern European.
even one listed their suite #22xx ... that one looks like they have Asian ladies.
i wonder if their neighbours are aware of this ... lol

Not really a big fan of the area.... you're right up against the gardiner, and to get to the core you have to pass under the gardiner and then over the railway tracks.. and there's nothing of interest immediately around...

I used to live at 18 Yonge. You do not need to pass under the Gardiner to get to the core. I am not sure why you say there's nothing of interest around. You have waterfront 2 blocks away from the building, Air canada centre right in front of the building, you are 2 or 3 blocks away walking distance from the st lawrence market (restaurants and bars). Union station right in front of the building. you can walk to loblaws and lcbo.

I never understood why Pinacle had much greater value than 18 Yonge, in my opinion 18 Yonge is a much better building than Pinacle, if I am not wrong there were some property management issues with the building at the beginning but everything has been resolved and the building is great

I lived there for 3 1/2 years and sold this spring. It has the cheapest mgmt fees in the area. I was paying 42 cents per sq ft. Facilities are very good with a great workout room, and nice pool and whirlpool with men's and women's saunas. Great location if you work downtown. It is what it is as you are in deep downtown. I was ready for a move up the yonge corridor and did so this spring.

The 18 yonge area is the best place to live. I was there with my friends for some long time, and the area is too good for living especially for family. Now I am looking for a flat there to stay with my husband and son, but there is no availability within my budget now. :(

Thanks

18 Yonge is a big cup of nope. Thin walls--constant frat-type parties, yelling and flicking cigarettes off of balconies. The great desk guys have no backup so if the loud partier doesn't want to stop--you're not getting any sleep. Thin walls and KITEC PIPES--which burst. They're in the process of replacing all the pipes at owners' expense--don't buy and only rent if you like to Partyyyyyy
