City council is about to make a big decision on what to do with the eastern part of the Gardiner Expressway. The options are to either maintain it, demolish it, or pursue the "hybrid" option. For those who need a refresher on the proposed alternatives, check out these slides from the public consultation.

Which option do you support?

Tear it down.

No other option makes sense. Not only is this stretch of road overbuilt, we do not know how changing traffic or demographic patterns will exist in 25, 50 and certainly not 100 years from now. There is one constant however, if we tear it down we open up TONS of acreage to development, development that will become new vibrant neighbourhoods and uses, and an extension of our waterfront and urban fabric that current and future Toronto residents will live in and enjoy.

That, IMO, is a future of Toronto worth fighting for.

The new hybrid option is too similar to the maintain option (the alignment of the main highway stays the same). The only difference is a few changes to ramps. Rehab this portion and get another 30 to 40 years out of it. Then we can make a decision on the entire Gardiner.

Road? Who needs roads? In 40 years there will be no roads...
