Do Torontonians complain about Toronto too much?

We do complain a lot and in some cases, are fully justified in doing so.

anyone who lives here would complain, puny transit, few express ways, no casinos, 10pm is the latest you can buy beer, ugly buildings, city council always cancelling large beautiful buildings, I could go on all day.

So why are you here?

Yes, in my opinion, some Torontonians complain too much, or think Toronto is worse than it is.

I love this city, I wouldn't be living here if I didn't. It's a great city, I've had a great time.

If someone really doesn't enjoy living here.. I don't know why they would stay and complain all the time.

A new city motto is born

That will happen when you spend half your day on transit or in the car commuting.

As a Torontonian, my day normally consists of:
1) Complaining about traffic while sitting in my single occupant ford escape hatchback
2) Complaining about how nothing ever gets built
3) Complaining about all the construction from stuff getting built
4) Complaining that union members get paid too much to sit on their ass
5) Complaining that I don't get paid enough to sit on my ass and comment on messageboards
6) Complaining that everything built in Toronto is too bland and utilitarian (e.g. subway stations)
7) Complaining that stuff that gets built is too expensive, flashy, and overbuilt (e.g. new subway stations, cherry beach)
8) Wondering if we're world class yet

Torontonians really need to learn to appreciate this city. It's without doubt one of the greatest cities in the world.

Anyways my complaints about the city
- Transit
- Too much good food in this city. There are so many restaurants I want to visit and my wallet can't deal with it.
- Banal architecture
- Mayor Bumbaclot and the people who support him (colloquially referred to as 'Bumbaclot Nation')
- Maintaining roads and transit infrastructure in a state of good repair. Seriously, please raise the f*ck out of my taxes to pay for it. Ughhh..
- Too much construction
- Too little construction. Build baby build
-Waterfront
- Ontario
-Torontonians who won't stop complaining about the single greatest city in the world. Seriously, shut your mouth. You're lucky to live in such a safe, clean, dynamic and prosperous metropolitan.

When you claim that Toronto is (a) "one of the greatest cities in the world", and later (b) "the single greatest city in the world", are you being ironic or do you really mean it? I hope it's the former but if it's the latter, what objective facts lead you to that conclusion?

Transit: maybe I'm the only one: but I haven't had any major problems using the TTC. I've had a few incidents like delays over the last few years but they weren't huge problems. Overall it's been a good experience for me personally using the subway.

Food: one of my favourite things about Toronto, no matter where you go, in the suburbs, downtown, there's amazing food.

Not to this degree. Seems Los Angeles and Toronto are okay with 2+ hour commutes, given the fact they land on all those lists all the time. But that's my only real complaint FWIW.

Is your commute 2 hours? Is it impossible for you to move closer or something like that? Just asking.

The other thing though is, to state the obvious, not everyone in Toronto has a 2 hour commute, so I don't really consider that a thing about living here necessarily. Many people live downtown & work downtown for example.

You're not the only one. I've had excellent experiences with the TTC the past few years.
