Toronto U of T: University College Revitalization | ?m | 3s | U of T | Kohn Shnier

Translude:

New and St. Michael's College also have some fundraising plans for capital projects, but they aren't nearly as interesting from a heritage preservation perspective, hence not mentioned.

University College was my college while I was in Arts and Science at U of T. That is a beautiful building. I'm glad to hear that they are making some changes to update it and make it better for students and staff.

UC is home base for me, too, and I'm not sure if I like the plan. The building does need updating, but I prefer the current set up with Laidlaw at the back and the two halls as they are. I know the halls aren't used as effectively as they should be, but I don't think the halls will yield a better library space, nor do I see Laidlaw's space serving any better purpose. I'm also hoping they don't improve the quad too much, as it's a beautiful little oasis of calm right now. I'd hate to see it turned into a heavily programmed facility.

Some notable construction updates by U of T, from April 2020 and beyond:

What's that copper/purple tower thingy? It doesn't look temporary.
