Costco (42-46 Overlea Boulevard) Demolition of Heritage Building, Former Coca-Cola HQ

The possibilities of redevelopment would end if every old suburban industrial building were preserved.--a situation that forever get worse as time passes.

Coca-Cola is not an old suburban industrial building. It is an important landmarked office building. Do you even know what it looks like?

Im definitely a fan of the front of the Coca Cola building, but the rest of it is nothing worth keeping around. It looks like a typical suburban warehouse.

Definitely don't think Costco should get permission to build a gas station on this site though. Their stations lead to traffic nightmares when gas prices spike. Unless they can come up with a better solution to manage the lines of cars during peak periods, I don't support that part of the plan.

Actually, it's both. 42 Overlea is the former Canadian Coca-Cola headquarters, and 46 Overlea was the one-storey bottling plant.

Thanks for the links One Human. The front of the bottling plant is a nice compliment to the office building. I would let it go, but not the former.

Pretty handsome example of its kind. A friend who has transferred with the rest of the office to the new HQs Downtown at 333 King could not be happier, however: apparently the interiors here were no longer working for Coke whatsoever.

Nice shots, the deepend. I must get out there too and record some for posterity. Reading over the report, it seems that the city has some real concerns about this project. Nonetheless, the developer usually appeals to the OMB and they almost allways get what they want.

You mean they are happy at the new location ? That's good to hear. Sorry the "however" didn't follow with the earlier part of the sentence, unless you mean the interiors at the new location.

Sorry but how does a Costco help the low-income people of Thorncliffe Park? I rather see something else like a community centre (which they need) built instead
