One of the long neglected stations on the GO network, it will be nice to see the upgrades happen here. Let's see if they actually complete this by 2025 (deadline for AODA compliance).

One thing i'm curious about is if we'll see full length station shelters or not, earlier plans suggested this wasnt the case (which doesnt make sense to me).

@Amare

I ran out of space for images in my post............. here ya go:

Dark colour is the length of the canopy, lighter, the length of the platform, so pretty fulsome coverage.

South one is a bit shorter.

it finally looks like a train station!

sad there's no escalators though. but at least there's elevators

Disappointing that for this station and Stockyards GO the streetcar connection isn't taken more seriously. One of the greatest features of all the TTC stations is the quality connections to surface transit without needing to brave the elements. It seems the other transit agencies don't get it.
At least the bus access to the station at St Clair will be fairly decent.

Agreed about Long Branch, judging by the plans here, they'll add a crosswalk and some pedestrian infrastructure between the loop and station building.

Hoping these plans include a roughhin for a south side platform for a 4th track. Seems there is space for such but...

Also the lack of a 20-storey building in the parking lot is mind boggling. City was already pushing for lower density in this MTSA and it would be a great opportunity to let Mlx drive the TOD bus if the City doesn't want to...

I agree and it seems that the current station redev plans are getting the station up to accessibility requirements and improving the platforms, while waiting for a proper station redo ala Mimico or Main Street GO. The thing is, any big project will be difficult to fit as long as the Legion continues to exist, due to both the weird elevation the station sits on and lacking 90% of the street frontage it would have.

The Legions members are quite avowed in not selling but they are an aging group, and I think the 8th Street/New Toronto Legion Branch serves as an example of what we will see happen here. Additionally, the elderly of Long Branch are an infamously NIMBY group (ask anybody who's been in the planning department for a while) and metrolinx likely knew they would have shot down any tower, hell they tried to save the half a dozen parking spots being removed for this rebuild. But, the tides are shifting.

My guess is we will see the Legion go under within the decade, Metrolinx will buy it as fast as they can wire the money, and a tower proposal integrating the Long Branch Loop with the GO station will be released. The one wild card IMO is whether or not the row of houses on Exmoor Dr will be expropriated/bought out, would think staff would like to avoid an island of sfh next to their new tower dev.
