I live in Cabbagetown. I am English-born. I like English beer. There, that's my story....
I can't find a pub anywhere in my area that serves English beer. If you ask for English beer at said pubs, they offer Guinness, Killkenny or Murphy's.... all of which are Irish. This is akin to telling a Portuguese that he's a Spaniard.
Where is my Boddingtons, Double Diamond and Tetleys? The Old York Fish and Chips chain used to have Boddingtons on tape, but that's not downtown east regardless. The House on Parliament has Fuller's http://www.houseonparliament.com/beers.html, so that's thankfully one spot, but after the move and reno it's lost its pub feel and feels more like a Yorkville highbrow than a proper pub. I wonder what the Ben Wicks has?
Where is my English beer on tap? And forget about it in a can, I can go to the LCBO and buy it myself there.
And yes I know that most of the English beer is now owned by foreign firms, making one question what is English anymore.... but I want my English beer on tap at a pub in downtown east.
