For your recommended daily allowance of total batshit lunacy, I give you the 2012 Texas Republican Platform. This is what happens when the teabaggers gain control:

Can't have a Democratic-voting district electing Senators.

We strongly oppose making the District of Columbia a state or adding Congressional members.

Can't consider helping those people unreachable by conventional survey methods, either.

We oppose the Census Bureau’s obtaining data beyond the number of people residing in a dwelling, and we oppose statistical sampling adjustments. We support the actual counting of people and oppose any type of estimation or manipulation of Census data. Only U.S. citizens should be counted for the purpose of adjusting legislative districts.

We strongly oppose all efforts of the extreme environmental groups that stymie legitimate business interests. We strongly oppose those efforts that attempt to use the environmental causes to purposefully disrupt and stop those interests within the oil and gas industry. We strongly support the immediate repeal of the Endangered Species Act. We strongly oppose the listing of the dune sage brush lizard either as a threatened or an endangered species. We believe the Environmental Protection Agency should be abolished.

The Republican Party of Texas supports the historic concept, established by our nations’ founders, of limited civil government jurisdiction under the natural laws of God, and repudiates the humanistic doctrine that the state is sovereign over the affairs of men, the family and the church.

We urge that the Voter Rights Act of 1965 codified and updated in 1973 be repealed and not reauthorized.

We support the definition of marriage as a God-ordained, legal and moral commitment only between a natural man and a natural woman, which is the foundational unit of a healthy society, and we oppose the assault on marriage by judicial activists. We call on the President and Congress to take immediate action to defend the sanctity of marriage. We are resolute that Congress exercise authority under the United States Constitution, and pass legislation withholding jurisdiction from the Federal Courts in cases involving family law, especially any changes in the definition of marriage. We further call on Congress to pass and the state legislatures to ratify a marriage amendment declaring that marriage in the United States shall consist of and be recognized only as the union of a natural man and a natural woman. Neither the United States nor any state shall recognize or grant to any unmarried person the legal rights or status of a spouse.

We affirm that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family unit. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.

All innocent human life must be respected and safeguarded from fertilization to natural death; therefore, the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We affirm our support for a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution and to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protection applies to unborn children. We support the Life at Conception Act. We oppose the use of public revenues and/or facilities for abortion or abortion-related services. We support the elimination of public funding for organizations that advocate or support abortion. We are resolute regarding the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

We unequivocally oppose the United States Senate’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

All adult citizens should have the legal right to conscientiously choose which vaccines are administered to themselves or their minor children without penalty for refusing a vaccine. We oppose any effort by any authority to mandate such vaccines or any medical database that would contain personal records of citizens without their consent.

Remove actual science from science classes!

We support objective teaching and equal treatment of all sides of scientific theories. We believe theories such as life origins and environmental change should be taught as challengeable scientific theories subject to change as new data is produced.

Can't have them being able to think for themselves, they might end up not voting Republican.

We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority.

Yeah, this'll work!

We recognize parental responsibility and authority regarding sex education. We believe that parents must be given an opportunity to review the material prior to giving their consent. We oppose any sex education other than abstinence until marriage.

We urge school administrators and officials to inform Texas school students specifically of their First Amendment rights to pray and engage in religious speech, individually or in groups, on school property without government interference. We urge the Legislature to end censorship of discussion of religion in our founding documents and encourage discussing those documents.

We affirm that the public acknowledgement of God is undeniable in our history and is vital to our freedom, prosperity and strength. We pledge our influence toward a return to the original intent of the First Amendment and toward dispelling the myth of separation of church and state.

Because every white, straight male Texan has the God-given right to beat up anybody different from them:

We urge immediate repeal of the Hate Crimes Law. Until the Hate Crimes Law is totally repealed, we urge the Legislature to immediately remove the education curriculum mandate and the sexual orientation category in said Law.

We support abolishing all federal agencies whose activities are not specifically enumerated in the Constitution; including the Departments of Education and Energy.

We urge Congress to adopt balanced budgets by cutting spending and not increasing tax rates.

This only applies to pinko socialist-type (probably subversive) organizations:

We oppose any government support of special interest organizations, such as ACORN and the ACLU.

Abolishing the income tax and replacing it with a hugely regressive sales tax? Way to stick it to the poor!

We recommend repeal of the Sixteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, with the goal of abolishing the I.R.S and replacing it with a national sales tax collected by the States. In the interim we urge the income tax be changed to a flatter, broader, lower tax with only minimal exemptions such as home mortgage interest deductions.

On the other hand, why should the wealthy pay any extra tax at all?

We favor abolishing the capital gains tax.

We encourage:
Abolishing property taxes
Shifting the tax burden to a consumption-based tax

We urge repeal of the Texas business tax.

We support the elimination of the Department of Energy.

We urge the Legislature to resist making Workers’ Compensation mandatory for all Texas employers.

We believe the Minimum Wage Law should be repealed.

We believe Congress should repeal the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. In the interim, we call for a complete audit of the Federal Reserve System and an immediate report to the American people.

We support the withdrawal of the United States from the United Nations and the removal of U.N. headquarters from U.S. soil.

We believe that the United States and Israel share a special long-standing relationship based on shared values, a mutual commitment to a republican form of government, and a strategic alliance that benefits both nations. Our foreign policy with Israel should reflect the special nature of this relationship through continued military and economic assistance and recognition that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths. We believe that the US Embassy should be located in Jerusalem. In our diplomatic dealings with Israel, we encourage the continuation of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, but oppose pressuring Israel to make concessions it believes would jeopardize its security, including the trading of land for the recognition of its right to exist. We call on the U.S. to cease strong arming Israel through prior agreements with the understanding of delivering Palestinians on the West Bank. We support the continuation of non-recognition of terrorist nations and organizations. Our policy is based on God’s biblical promise to bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel and we further invite other nations and organizations to enjoy the benefits of that promise.

These tea bag idiots want America to return to the stone age!! The Tea Party started off as a grassroots moment until they were manipulated by people of wealth like Koch Bros to protect the privileged.

Repubs/Tea Bags, have gone to war with unions stripping workers rights and are winning!
In Wisconsin Gov Scott Walker stripped the collective bargaining rights of public sector unions that didn't support him. The unions that endorsed him escaped his axing.

Tea bags have went to war with women. Scott Walker just signed a bill that prohibits workers from collecting damages in employment discrimination cases. Women who might suffer discrimination in the workplace are now SOL. Republicans attacking the Girl Scouts as pro-abortion lesbian-sympathizers, Rick Santorum saying contraception is bad for women, Virginia Republicans requiring vaginal penetration for women seeking abortions, and Oklahoma Republicans nearing passage of a law granting personhood rights to fertilized eggs. More anti-abortion bills have been introduced than in any of the past three General Assemblies. The main goal right now with the Republicans is to roll back women' s reproductive freedoms.

From the so called party of “keep the government out of my private life†they have policy after policy of legislating what people choose to do in their private lives. And this whole we need to protect “traditional marriage†from people like Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh who has been married and divorced three times is hilarious!

sorry to break it to you doady, but the PCs are not that bad. though they are the most right winged party in Ontario in decades, this platform is the right winged version of the communist party.

Mongo and Everyone: The Texas Tea Party platform shows to me why the US needs a third major political party...Just like Canada!

I feel that it should be Centrist-like the vast majority of people actually are politically...

I think of this song describing this subject perfectly...Red Rider's "Lunatic Fringe" from 1981-82...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTFVMMCwsss

I also think of how much power that the NRA and the US Gun Lobby have over the US Federal Government...
It makes me think of Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold"...This is interesting because I thought of it long before I
realized how right-wing and pro-gun politically he is...it's just coincidental...

It's amazing to think hw recently Texas had a rather moderate, almost liberal Governor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Richards

Even some of the Deep South states had relatively liberal governors. It's at least partly because of the gradual migration of conservative white southerners from the Democrats to the Republicans. As the shift was happening through the 80s, the far right had moved to the Republicans but the moderate whites remained with the members of minority communities in the Democratic Party and were able to form a moderate majority. By the 2000s, however, the vast majority of whites had gone over to the Republicans and virtually wiped out the Democrats in state-wide races. That's a bit of a simplification but it does explain governors like Ray Mabus.

Who cares about job creation? Republicans are worried about more important issues like ending benefits for gay couples.

Arizona governor Jan Brewer has not finished fighting against same-sex partner benefits in the state of Arizona. On July 2, the Republican official filed a petition to the Supreme Court requesting that a September ruling which allowed same-sex partners of state employees to retain benefits be reversed.

I like Obama's new attack ad. its about time the Dems started questioning Romney's time at Bain. Romney says that he will create American jobs but will not tell how much he makes from outsourcing or off-shoring,Maybe these new jobs will be for the lobbyist hired by his donors that will write the legislation to make more loopholes for them to increase their wealth.400 people in the U.S control more wealth than 150 million Americans and can write multimillion dollar checks at the blink of an eye to get candidates elected but cannot hire more workers or raise wages.
