Simcity 5

That would be great, but seeing that SC4 with the 3rd party add-ons needs a damn supercomputer to run properly, I'd concerned that any improvements will be limited to to superficial.

(Or, even worse, an attempt to make the game more Sims-like. The horror!)

If this is true, and I'm hoping it is, I will literally s**t myself. Only Maxis can recreate the awesomeness to follow up on SC4. Btw, make this game as easily modifiable as the last.. Custom content has allowed me to build cities like this:

Anyways, here's my wish list (in terms of improvements over SC4 which was nonetheless very good):

-More realistic populations (20 people in a single family home???)
-More realistic commute distances
-Light Rail, streetcars, express bus and BRT
-Transit stops that fit into the sidewalk/street (especially for buses)
-More realistic commute distances (2km drive is not too far)
-Curving streets would be cool
-diagonal bridges
-options for woonerfs and narrower European style streets
-pedestrian streets would be cool too, although it would of course be challenging to get them to work
-more flexible zoning that allows various mixes of uses (industrial+commercial, residential+commercial) including mixed use building
-zoning based on both height and density
-ability to build tunnels without a mountain
-options for smaller lot sizes
-allowing use conversions like industrial to residential lofts or offices to condos
-feeding our evil fantasies with huge shopping malls/strip malls/power centres and super highways
-A few "extras" like rec centres, community pools, hockey rinks, housing projects, hydroelectricity
-Maybe better land value models, which among other things would include proximity to waterfronts and mountains
-Allowing players to creating their own building sets, especially when it comes to downloaded buildings (instead of just Euro, NY, Chicago and Houston)
-Finding a way to transfer custom content

Looks really softcore stupid. So not buying and playing it if that's what the end product will resemble.

Nothing in it suggests what you're building is a real city - more like a series of functionally based districts with nothing in between. Yuck.

I'm really hoping that the game won't be like that. It looks too much like societies and the "cities" look tiny.

But I do think that Maxis is building a real city building simulator. Take a look at the new "Glassbox" engine.

Also some people at Maxis are promising that the game will take SimCity back to it roots.
