Location
Mississauga, where cars rule city growth
This is going before the Planning and Development Committee on January 09, 2012 at 7:00 pm, at Mississauga City Hall.

A retirement home for 169 units.

It on the south-west corner of Burnhamthorpe Rd E that was a former site of a Shell {?} Station.

Someone surprise at this as these station site become a plaza. A good choice for the area.

Wondering if they can do the same thing for that X station lot across the street from this one, but would require the houses west of it to be bought up to do so.

I couldn't make the meeting on Monday, but the NIMBY's was at work and not surprised.

Frank Dale the Ward Councilor was doing his strip changing as usual.

From the minutes of the meeting.

Councillor Frank Dale requested that the Planning & Building Department consider that
there are no examples of similar projects on Cawthra Road and that there should be some
transition into the neighbourhood and gave examples in the City Centre area. Councillor
Pat Mullin spoke in support of Councillor Dale's comments and noted that
Councilors should support the intensification policies and the Mississauga designations in
the secondary plans.
Ward 4 Councillor, Frank Dale moved the following motion which was voted on and
carried.
PDC-0003-2012
L That the Report dated December 13, 2011, from the Commissioner of Planning and
Building regarding the applications to amend the Official Plan from "Residential
Medium Density I" and "Motor Vehicle Commercial" to "Residential High Density
II - Special Site" and to change the Zoning from "RM4" (Townhouse Dwellings)
and "C5-3" (Motor Vehicle Commercial- Exception) to "RA2-Exception"
(Apartment Dwellings - Exception), to permit a 169 unit, 6 storey retirement
dwelling with a 7th storey mechanical room and amenity area under file OZ 101008
W4, Daraban Holdings Limited, 3640-3658 and 3670 Cawthra Road, be received
for information.

Frank Dale the ward council presented a motion to reject this project as it was too tall for the area, but most of all Sr citizen shown be living here in the first place.

NIMBY won the day along with the car folks.

The developer file appeal on March 9, 2012 with the OMB with a pre-hearing for July 13.

Council continue to march to their beat of low density of 4 storey or less on main streets.

On council agenda for next week. The building looks like it now 4s and going to move ahead. Frank Dale is no longer the ward councilor and the planner of $500,000 wasted $$ to replace him in an April election, since he took a nice paying job as Chair of Peel after being reelected in Oct 2014.

An email dated February 2, 2015, from James Durbano President ofDarban Holdings Ltd is requesting that the devefopment charges can-oe -
paid at move-in or occupancy time and no at a pre-payment for a four
storey retirement home at 3640-3670 Cawthra Road (Ward 4).
