Hey all you UrbanToronto-ers,

UrbanToronto is starting a new tradition and we need your help!

We're preparing to launch our First Annual Year-end Readers' Poll. Tell us what you think should be included. What categories would you include, what should we ensure is not missed?

Let us know by the end of this week. We'll be launching the poll next week.

Thanks in advance for your involvement!

Ed, will this be a single poll with say 5 options, or a series of polls?

Some of my suggestions would be:

- Best front-page article
- Most urban development
- Best architecture
- Favourite low rise (up to 12s), mid rise(13-30s), high rise (31+) that were completed in 2011.
- Best overall hotel, office, residential
- Most bizarre post by a frequent UT visitor ;)

* Favourite architect called Peter.

-Best new restaurant and/or new retail development(s).
-Best small infill/townhouse develoment.
-Best new proposal (announced in 2011, but not yet in construction or necessarily approved).
-Best new rental/community housing development
-Ghastliest/worst/most banal/most abhorrent (pick your poison) development completed in 2011. *cough, Uptown.
-Favourite Rob Ford moment, or more seriously, something to do with best/worst political moments. Work in progress.
-Favourite boneheaded TTC decision.

I'll add more if I think of them.

Best heritage preservation project.
Best public space design.
Best infrastructure project completed.
Best new architecture in suburban Toronto.
Best new public space in suburban Toronto.

Good ideas everyone.

Are the polls still launching this week? I feel like the thread needs a boost of visibility to get a bit more participation, and maybe some discussion on the ideas presented so far. Not sure what the mods have in store though, so I'll step aside and quit armchair moderating.
