Be careful randomly getting out of subway stations... you could end up in dodgy neighbourhoods.

Back to Manhattan... in and around 14TH STREET. The canyon looking up 5th Ave from 14th street is spectacular.

2007 arrives and everyone heads home. It took us over 3 hours to get back to our hotel in New Jersey.

And finally, the creepy train ride back home through the foggy ADIRONDACKS.

That's it! Hope you enjoyed.

Enjoy I did!

What's going on in this picture:
Mob convention?

Those are some really cool shots! I especially liked the views of the city from that subway station, very urban!
How long did it take you to get back to Montreal by train?

Excellent pics! Darkstar416 and I will be there in April - can't wait! Ganja, you'll need to e-mail us with some of your recommendations.

those are just livery cabs. for some reason there are a ton of them in brooklyn and they like to hang around underneath elevated lines.

Makes me want to go back for another visit. Nice pics.

Great pictures, thanks! Good to see your pics of the Adirondacks area especially, this is a nice change from the urban photos. I took this route once (Montreal - NY), years ago, but ws mostly at night and therefore didn't actualy see much!

Great pics. I was just there for New Years, and saw that same light show across from Roc Center. After bringing in the year in Brooklyn I had the most bizarre night of my life in an apartment on the Upper East side. Let's just say my year can't get much better....or strange....:( :hat

So which routes did you do by El? I note the J-M-Z and the 7 are shown - any others?

I've gotta go back.

...what she asked of me at the end of the day, Caligula would have blushed...

I was in New York ten years ago for New Years. It was when I proposed to my wife on top of the WTC.

For New Years eve we were at some party on the Upper West Side. The friend I was staying with was a reporter for NY1 (sort of like City TV). He covered the first WTC bombing extensively. At 11:30 we took a cab to as close as we could get to Times Square. We started walking to the police blockades. When we got there the police let us all through as they all knew who my friend was. With 15 minutes to go we were 30 feet from the Mayor. Fabulous place to watch it all go down Meanwhile the regular folks spent many hours in the cold waiting for this. I guess its good to know people in high places.

What's going on in this picture:

Looks like liberty taxis. They fill the gap that yellow taxis create, especially on or north of 125st where they won't pick you up, and in the outer boroughs.

Thanks all for the comments.

How long did it take you to get back to Montreal by train?

It's a cosy 10h train ride. But very cheap... US$64.

So which routes did you do by El? I note the J-M-Z and the 7 are shown - any others?

I took the J, 7 and the F to get to Smith-9th. The 7 providing incredible midtown views... I took it back and forth a few times. Some of the pics are from the Smith-9th station on the F line. Some are from the Broadway Junction station.
