Location
Mississauga, where cars rule city growth
Photos to follow that were shot July 4

This is a Supper Correction Centre, that will be the first Green Certified Detention Centre in the Province.

This is precaste construction building using 2, 300 Ton crawlers plus a 100 plus ton moble crane since I could not see it, other than its boom.

Once the photos are up loaded, they are number 43138-43175 with a few GO Transit photo thrown in.

The sign at 130 saids Mimico Correction Centre with no other name seen around this project

I've seen that looming over Willowbrook and wondered what it was. I knew there used to be a jail here but had no idea it was coming back and turning into such a giant monstrosity.

Did they have to make it look so bad? If the intention is to scare you into obeying the law, it may work. Yet ordinary people have to pass it by everyday, which is a shame.

I'm guessing the city skyline views from those higher floors will be pretty poor.

Its a prison. I don't think they are worried about the views.

This is a side street. Few will see it.

It will be an eyesore to the few who do drive past by it ... A giant monstrosity.

Though it *is* an industrial area. And there definitely does seem to be a last-gasp-of-the-Brutalist-megastructure architectural POV operating here (the concrete walls can't help but remind me of Zeidler's McMaster HSC). So, if it looks "monstrous", it's meant to be so. 'Twas ever so, as architectural historians and Foucaultists will tell you. (Not that this is the architectural equal of George Dance's Newgate Prison; but, hey.)

This thing is costing $1.1 billion just to build. Considering there will be about 1650 inmates, that's a cost of almost $700,000 per inmate. You can build one hell of a nice house with that kind of money, one that would sell for a couple million when you consider land value costs and a generous cut for the developer. Looks like quite a fancy jail.

IO's website (link in above post) says $594M (EDIT: That's PV) and that includes maintaining it for 30 years. Where is 1.1B coming from? Edit: OK....$1.1 is total value of payments
