Over the past while, i've been trying to get a city model built. :D
I need help keeping track of upcoming proposals/projects that i'm unaware of within the model area so that they can be built. (there are many blocks to keep track of!)
It's a very general model focusing in on the main high-rises/structures (which is why you'll see the low-lying areas with less detail).

let me know if you see any areas with proposals/projects i haven't built or anything you want to say :p

The scale is approx. 2.25cm : 50m

Hopefully you'll be able to recognize some of the structures. These include things built, under construction, and proposed.
What i've got so far (a work in progress)...

EDIT: Model City Version 2.0
version 2.0 will be more accurate than the first model,

The scale is just slightly larger 2.5cm:50m compared to 2.25cm:50m.

That is some cool stuff, Steve. If you apply for an urban planning degree (or architecture), you should send this in with your portfolio - it would be the icing on the cake in your application. How long did it take you to build this?

building materials were really simple. the buildings are made of papercard (cereal box kinda cardboard), cardboard for the base (divided in many sections), flock/moss for greenery.
the time it took is around a year/year and a half on and off. haven't really been consistent in building cause of the time consumption. though prior to this (3 years ago), i experimented in building a mini CBD which was crudely done, so i restarted/revised/expanded.

a lot of the buildings will need updating, some of the models are very very basic (skyline tower, theatre park, 880 bay street, etc), when more renders are released, i'll fix them.

If anyone has any good renders of 45 Bay street, please post them. we've gotten very basic images, but nothing really concrete. (you can see the empty lot next to the ACC).

i'm not really in to modelling, but i like the perspectives you can get out of it. nothing beats 3D!
i'll try taking some more photos from different vantage points and post more pics as it nears completion.

That is really and truly impressive, steveve. I agree with Hipster Duck and AoD; this passion could provide some great opportunities if you wish to pursue them.

Steveve...I'm totally impressed! Well done! I hope all the idiots that have criticized you in the past and have never taken on something so ambitious, see what you've done and get reconstructive surgery at a discount when their "mouthy" jaws break on their computer desks when they fall open! LOL. Congrats on your accomplishment.

alright. here's the CBD. it's the first section i built so you'll notice it needs some maintenance.
you'll notice exchange tower, richmond-adelaide centre 3, and a few more need updating. (and the railway tracks need texture).

Wonderful steveve. Just wonderful.

I can only echo what's been said here already - it seems like this is your passion, so pursue it!

It's fantastic. You could go to City Hall and talk to them about fixing up the dingy and dated model on display there (yours is more accurate and more detailed and the cardboard and other materials also have more character).

the city hall model is definitely more polished and larger, but it's dated and needs updating. and it's been sitting there for years. I'd like to see the city built a newer model (like the one in chicago) with present to future buildings.
