Unbuilt highways

It's worth noting the design in those renderings would be considered very poor by modern standards.

Only two lanes each direction. If it had been built it would be backed up from Bloor to the 401 every rush hour by now and there would be calls today for a $10-billion plan to widen Spadina.

I think one of the interesting things in those renders is the SPUI between Harbord and Spadina. It would of been one of the firsts one built with the Road over the Freeway.

Well, much as the Gardiner and DVP were poorly designed by today's superhighway standards...

At least these drawings are honest about the context through which they planned to ram the Spadina Expressway through.

The official renderings for some depressed sections of the Scarborough Expressway are even more crude, if I recall correctly. The drawing only consists of a couple of straight lines with a couple of cars thrown in. No context is shown.
