As the decade draws to a close I thought I'd start a thread listing our 10 favorate high-rises built (topped off) in the GTA from 2000-2010.

I'll start,

1) X
2) Telus
3) Absolute (buildings 4 & 5)
4) 155 Cumberland
5) Casa
6) Murano
7) Lumiere
8) One St. Thomas
9) Pure Spirit
10) Radio City

1) Absolute
2) One King West
3) X
4) Casa
5) Ritz-Carlton
6) The Met
7) Uptown
8) Bay-Adelaide West
9) West Harbour City
10) One St. Thomas

I didn't include Absolute because tower 5 isn't topped off, but if we're going with this then that changes my list.

Here you go..:)

1) Bay-Adelaide West
2) Ritz-Carlton
3) RBC Centre
4) Absolute
5) One King West
6) Quantum North/South
7) Casa
8) Uptown
9) Maple Leaf Square North/South
10) Residences of College Park North/South

If we're talking about towers built in this past decade, shouldn't it be between 2000-2009? Or that can be interpreted as 2001-2010? Either way, not one of the buildings on my list is from 2000.

1. Absolute
2. One King West
3. RBC Centre
4. SP!RE
5. The Met
6. One St. Thomas
7. West One at CityPlace
8. 180 Queen West
9. Lumiere
10. Murano

Honorable mentions -
X Condominium - The mechanical box stopped it from making the list. Don't go for the Miesian aesthetic and if you're not willing to go for perfection.
Ellipse - One of the most interesting twin towers in the city adding a lot of interest to Scarborough Centre. The towers alone could have make the list with better glass and a podium with better materials and more consistent attention to detail. They were built by the same developer as One St. Thomas.

In terms of "skyline " impact, so far it would be,
1 Ritz (Really makes a difference from the west and lake.)
2 Bay Adelaide ( nice step down for cbd)
3 MLS
4 Success (surprising how much this impacts the skyline)
5 Uptown (Needed height in Uptown)
6 CASA
7 ROCP (these two really start to fill in the gaps, along with Casa, and Murano)
8 RBC (great lighting, really draws your eye at night)
9 1King west (Skinny from lake, diminishes impact, though i love this tower)
10 Harbor view=/+ West 1,.... in 4 years though, boy will this change, the impact from,Ice, Trump FS, SL, L, Aura, Bloor etc....
Last a huge change as far as the nite sky goes, is the impact the LEDS on CN tower have had, Huge change in Nite time photos. a great idea, that saves energy!!!

i agree about the led's ^^^
my 10 are...
1. the ritz (are we allowed to list u/c buildings if not then my # 1 would change)
2. marylin monroe tower (amazing! left me speechless)
3. 155 cumberland (great additionm to the older building)
4. the x condo (would be my number 1 but that mechanical box really sucks)
5. ba centre west (great addition for the east/west facing views of the cbd)
6. telus house (great cladding and overall good design, especially for a box)
7. one king west (would have been higher in my list had it been taller, that would have made it super awesome. maybe 230 to 250 meters?)
8. one st. thomas (feels kind of retro, great building design. wish it had been taller though)
9. rbc centre (another great addition for the cbd)
10. uptown (feels very 1930 new york. except not some crappy disney type recreation great setbacks too)

I disagree about Uptown, a common choice so far. It's so bland and underwhelming.

Too bad for you this thread is about which high-rises in Toronto a given person likes, and not which high-rises on other people's lists you dislike.
