Engrish in Toronto

Ha, that is funny. Asian translations to English are often hilarious. I guess that's what happens when you use Babelfish without double-checking.

I was in a Chinese Buffet restaurant recently.

In one dish was something called "Bull Swings". Hmm...What part of the bull would the "swing" be?

To my relief, the item was found to be "Buffalo Wings".

There's a store at Yonge and Gerrard that spells Yonge Street wrong in the address on its sign. I was like "Really?! You're at the intersection. Walk out and read the street sign."

I've always been particularly fond of Bling Bling Brenda Silver on Yonge/Gerrard.

I've seen fliers recently on hydro poles and such around my neighbourhood that doesn't offer ESL courses - oh no, it offers courses on how to speak with a Canadian accent.

My good buddy's girlfriend is Japanese (moved to Ottawa, now Toronto last year) and her English has always been a hoot. She speaks well, but when writing the l and r problem gets even funnier.

For her birthday I get a text message: "OMG FIL! So many baroons!"
For my birthday I get: "FILLY Happy Birthday!! Conglaturations!"

Always worth a laugh hehe
