Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let all you Urban Toronto users know about Halminen Homes' 5 Day Build for Charity. We're a Durham region housing developer who are dedicated to building, furnishing and fully landscaping a 2,032 sq. ft. home on a 5 day deadline. The normal timeline for constructing a home is 45-60 days.

Once completed the home will be sold for an estimated $400 000, with all proceeds donated to the Bowmanville Memorial Hospital to help fund a new critical care unit.

The action begins on August 9th in scenic Courtice, ON, a small town within the municipality of Clarington. The building frenzy will last for 5 days and end on the afternoon of August 13.

Check out the official blog to learn more about this great project. It has loads of content such as photos of the job site and interviews with a whole range of people who are involved. You can also follow our progress on Twitter for all the up-to-the-minute news.

Cheers!

Well this is interesting! So they're going to build a house in 5 days? Sounds pretty sweet. Think I might have to hop in the car and take a visit while it's going on.

Are the builders going to be going at it 24 hours a day? Are we allowed drop by the site any time or are there specific visiting hours?

Hey Halminen, thanks for being part of the UT community! There is nothing better than seeing builders on the forum.

Sounds like an awesome and cool project. I think an average home takes 60+ days to build. Bringing that to 5 days will be an impressive feat! Will there be any live coverage of the "action"?

But, more impressive is that you are donating the proceeds to a hospital.

Thank you. I look forward to researching your company in more depth.

The builders will be working 24 hours a day to accomplish this feat. Crews will be working in 8 hour shifts around the clock, sounds pretty intense doesn't it? Bleachers and a refreshment table will be set up for anyone who is interested in watching the action unfold. We're encouraging people to come from far and wide to check out this project. Drop by anytime!

There's definitely going to be plenty of live coverage of the build. We'll have our social media team tweeting the action like there's no tomorrow and a steady stream of videos posted on our blog that will cover every aspect of the event.

Thanks for your comment!
