Woman in White on a Bridge over the DVP

My mom was telling me about a woman who used to dress in white and appear on a bridge every now and then over the Don Valley. I'm not sure what bridge - it might have been the Viaduct, or perhaps one north of there. Has anyone ever heard of this woman?

I do, but wasn't it on a bridge over the Gardiner? There was a name for her too, but I can't quite remember it. I think she stood on the Jamieson bridge, but I could be wrong.

It's been a while, but I have seen her on the Lawrence Ave overpass on the DVP

is there any more to this story? why the notoriety?

Started out as a reaction to that "Lady in Red" Chris De Burgh song. The woman didn't like 80s schlock, so she protested.

There are rumours she also demonstrates against Rush's Tom Sawyer by dressing as Huckleberry Finn and standing on one of the 401 overpasses.

Anyone remember the "Queen of Sweden"? I think she used to stand on bridges as well.

I haven't seen the Sweedish Lady in ages - six or seven years at least. Maybe she died. Or returned to her beloved homeland. Or both.

A lady wearing all white used to stand at the corner of Leslie and Sheppard many years ago. I wonder if it was the same lady.

ap: She was a Swedish socialist or something. Used to dress in bright clothes - white and red and silver if I recall - and harangue people on street corners. I was once accosted by her in the subway, and she was quite unnerving. Uno Prii's widow - Silvia - reminds me of her a bit, though she's perfectly sane and charming to be with.

I remember that woman in white, I never got a good look at her because I was driving. Is that really her? If so, what an interesting charactor she is!

I can assure you that this is really her. I saw her so many times in my childhood in the early 70's but not now since perhaps 1989 standing on a bridge over the DVP waving to her 'subjects' just north of Eglinton. Quite the character. She lived in the Danforth and Vic Park area and her house was just as interesting
