"Toronto is the greatest urban society in the world Today"
- Paul Oberman, Woodcliffe

Toronto is now entering a time of new leadership and its time to start talking about the direction we should take to make our city more livable.

Where should we spend our tax dollars?
What needs to be changed in City Planning?
Should we take down the Gardiner?
Should we increase the density in every neighborhood? and What about Nimbyism?

These are all questions we've all explored in this forum. Now its time to get some ideas and put them into action. On April 21st at 8:30p, join us as Brian Persaud leads a discussion with Adam Vaughan, Councillor for Ward 20 (Trinity - Spadina), and Paul Oberman, President of the Woodcliffe Corporation on what we need to do to make Toronto one of the greatest cities in the world.

Let us know where you would like the discussion to go. We aim to be interactive and we will strive to get the answers to your most pressing questions.

Hmm. Could be a fun meeting. When you start off a post with such hyperbole, you know you're in for some potential fireworks.

Click the link above and you'll get a video of Paul Oberman, president of developer Woodcliffe, mentioning that he travels a lot, and (therefore he can state with authority that) Toronto is perhaps the greatest urban society in the world today. (Whatever that means, but it's pretty good.) They left out the perhaps in the quote above. Anyway, Woodcliffe is the firm that wanted to put 38 floors of condo immediately across Scrivener Square from the fantastic North Toronto Railway Station LCBO with its clock tower. (They also fixed up the railway station for the LCBO in the first place, so I have mixed feelings about them: railway station LCBO = possibly the best retail space in the whole city vs. wildly out of scale for the area 38 floor condo proposal immediately south.) I think I'm going to that forum.

Paul Oberman sincerly belives Toronto is one the greatest cities in the world. You would be amazed by his proposal's to the cities: to clean up parks, to pay for redevelopment of poorly maintained city properties and he never gets a response. He's a real civic developer.

We are saddened that this was the only appearance of Paul on our show after his tragic death in a plane crash. We were always working to get in and perhaps Ken Greenberg to debate where the city should go
