I was driving west on Rebecca, just passing Dorval, when my wife spotted these abandon looking houses on Tudor Ave.
We drove north on Tudor and saw the Department of National Defense signs, indicating authorized vehicles only.
with two sleeping kids under two, we obliged.
but i can't figure out what this place is.
I tried the oakville zoning and op, but no clues there, just zoned, and designated residential.
thankfully, the google car was not as chicken to disobey the signs as I was.

does anyone know what's up? any history or background on this. just really curious.

The sign says no Authorized Parking, so im assuming its safe to drive in to check it out.

Seems cool!

I grew up in the area. I believe they were built in the 40's. This was known to us as 'The Army Block'. Many kids from the army block attended our public school while their father or mother was in the armed forces. Some would stay a year while many stayed for many years.
Just over 10 years ago my brother and his family lived there during his Toronto stint with the Navy. The house was nice with beautiful hardwood floors. It seemed to be mostly RCMP employees living there the past decade.
Now nobody lives there and the region is looking to make it into affordable housing.

Old PMQs. In use until a few years ago. Military personnel posted to Toronto area units used to live there and commute to work. I believe it's now been declared surplus.
