I came across this proposed development sign on the property between Bohemian Embassy and Westside Gallery Lofts ... proposed 18 storey affordable housing project with 190 units jointly funed by the Government of Canada, Province of Ontario, and City of Toronto

This 18 storey building will pretty much eliminate most of the southeast views from Bohemian Embassay's 18 storey point tower ~

Design wise ... the red brick proposed on this building will tie in pretty well with the brick podiums on Bohemian Embassy + Westside Gallery Lofts :)

This one is supposedly on hold. In any case, I don't think it's under construction as 48 Abell was still standing the last I saw.

Verdiroc & St Clare Multifaith are developing the property with capital support from the various housing programs

thanks for the info ~ sorry I failed to realise that 48 Abell + 180 Sudbury was the same property

Looks pretty good for affordable housing. I like the lettering for th cafe, etc. The only thing I don't like is the rounded brickwork above the retail portions. Makes the building look too 80's/early 90's.

Found more info on this project from City Planning staff reports ... two towers @ 19 storeys each:

If this is TCHC, I think they've really dropped the ball here. And they were doing so well with the new housing on Richmond, Adelaide, Cityplace, and Regent Park... why regress into '90s PoMo?

I'm afraid this won't look much better than the building at Portland & Richmond, or buildings in the St. Lawrence neighbourhood. The podium colour looks like the awful building on Jarvis next to the site for Market Wharf.

I guess the east (Abell) tower got shorten from 19s to 14s as previously proposed above ... and a development partner has now been identified, Verdiroc Developments, which is the same company that built a new rental apartment tower at the southwest corner of Sheppard + 404 in the Parkway Forest neighbourhood ~

Verdiroc was known right from the start about 3 years ago. Also, the shorter market component was approved over a year ago. Oh well, at least they are now caught up although I wonder if they are aware the first non-profit phase is under construction. Apparently, there's enough room to build it without touching 48 Abell.

It may make more sense to separate these into two different threads. I am tending towards splitting off The Aristocrat once its marketing gets going... but could be persuaded otherwise.
