I know a bunch of people who won't be too pleased in the short run.

true but a lot of the construction that they did on the 401 has made a huge impact.

I always thought the widening/extension to Winston Churchill would be part of the same project. It really was needed a couple of years ago.

I remember back in 1989 the Mississauga News saying it was supposed to be widened to the-then future Mavis Road by 1994!

That will where it will start back to what there to day just west of it.

Been by the bridge and have seen no work as a week ago.

I use the interchange daily. A few months ago the rerouted the electrical wires to the east side of the bridge. Then about a month or so ago the ran underground cables, again on the east side. Last night the shut down one lane in each direction.

Would it be possible to get a rendering of the interchange, highway will look once completed?

They were close... only 15 years off.
Closer to 25-years off! This phase doesn't finish until 2013 ... and only widens to McLaughlin. It would be the next phase that would widen to Mavis (and hopefully past Mississauga Road). I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't start until 2014, with completion in 2018.

Well, 25 years is better than 26 no?

Depends if you see this as a necessary expansion, or simply facilitating urban sprawl in Milton, Cambridge, and Guelph.

Places to Grow, and the Greenbelt should help prevent that, though development can always leapfrog the greenbelt. In any case, the investment we are seeing in public transit today should help ease the pain.
