    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

It will be great; Highway 11 is so bad that I'll take any decline in traffic on it

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Mind you, I don’t have the documents handy. But documents (specifically the transport master plan) did show the county was interested in the idea of running service between Barrie and Collingwood via Angus, New Lowell, Stayner, and Batteaux. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it went anywhere...

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Yes, I posted a statement previously from the City of Barrie that it’ll use the BCRY. As well, surveys show Industrial spurs entering the property. I’ll post links to them when I get home

It’s beginning to rise up out of the ground

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

I went to see it for myself, and sure enough; it is all but gone.

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Yes, you’d need to do a lot of work through downtown Barrie to get it to Orillia. It’s likely just not worth it to do so

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

There’s definitely merit to the idea of reactivation in the near future. Collingwood alone is supposed to double in population over the next just under 20 years. Same with Barrie. Not to mention with tourism being the biggest industry in the area having more people and thus potential visitors...

An interesting detail from this old Toronto Star article (archived via Transit Toronto): https://transittoronto.ca/archives/data/200106091037.shtml "In addition, Collenette is expected to reveal that the federal government hopes to restore commuter rail service to Peterborough and Barrie. As a...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

If this was something new I could understand the concerns. But this corridor has been around for longer than anyone currently alive today. You don't get to move next to an active rail corridor and act shocked when trains are using it, or that we may *gasp* need more capacity to meet the demands...

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

From Google streetview it looks to be a siding

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

Okay, get your tinfoil hat on. Orangeville is entirely within greenbelt land. While not impossible that they can annex some land just beyond it. I imagine their mayor who was previously a realtor (not saying that necessarily means much, but it could result in a bias towards a certain POV or...

$4.7 million is the cheapest? And people still say the operational section should become a trail

    Barrie The Residences on Owen | 71m | 20s | Ballantry | MCL Architects

A large part of that problem also has to do with what little supply there is being in the north end close to Georgian College. So you have demand from students on top of the usual demand from residents. The south end meanwhile has basically nothing

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Fresh coat of paint at Aurora station

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Bradford (former terminus and also future terminus of 15 minute service) has 2 platforms as well. There's certainly merit to the idea at Allandale given the level of service expected

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

They’re going to add them. Currently the south section from Aurora to the Union station corridor is having double track work done. I think we’ll see work between Aurora and Bradford/Barrie start within the next year or two
