Toronto Metropolitan University (Ryerson) Campus Public Realm

No way that confusion wouldn't happen, given that the legal name of the place in Oshawa is still "University of Ontario Institute of Technology." Ontario Tech is just a branding.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

This article gives details on where they see schedules and travel times going and is clear about electric locomotives - there's no mention of EMUs. If you haven't read it, I think you'll want to.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Absolutely - but that IS what the Metrolinx marketing position has been lately. They haven't been showing EMUs, which is contrary to some of the statements earlier in this thread.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

I don’t think it means anything, but Metrolinx has recently been exclusively using images of bilevels running under concatenary.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Seems like they may be heading in the direction of "relatively small" EMU trains with high frequencies. I'd imagine that you'd want single floor EMUs to ease loading times.; Of course, time will tell. It's early days.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

In the government press release, there is a comment from Phil Verster that "This and more will be delivered by the ONxpress team, who proposed service levels that far surpass our GO Expansion full business case and will transform GO Transit into a world class transit system to move the region...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

The Alstom press release is very specific about the initial two year contract, so my guess is that they are only announcing the orders they expect during that period. Presumably EMU orders would be finalized during that design period.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Related: drivers with green license plates (eg. electric or plugin hybrid vehicles) have been able to drive in HOV lanes without any passengers for some years now, as an extra incentive to buy a green vehicle. This program had been renewed on an annual basis but is now officially permanent*...

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

Still some odd artifacts; take a look at the westbound lanes near Brock - there's a gap while the eastbound are connected to the old segment. On the other hand, the ramps on the 412 now look correct so far as I can see.

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

Thanks for the information; very interesting stuff.

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

I've been watching to see when the big online maps would start showing the 407 extension and 412. While Apple Maps is not yet showing them, Google Maps is showing the 412 but not the 407 extension, and the 412 is an alternate version that has no ramps at Dundas Street but does have ramps at...

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

The press release I linked to above says "until the new year". That may not be a specific date but it very strongly implies "until January 1".

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

All guesses were wrong. Official opening is on Monday, squeezing into spring by the smallest of margins. 407 East and 412 will be toll-free for the remainder of 2016.

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

With less than a week to go before the revised Phase 1 opening deadline of "spring" expires, the Town of Whitby is holding an event on Saturday morning in which the public can ride, walk, rollerskate, etc Phase 1 of the extension. Specifically, a 1.5 km stretch between Baldwin South and...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

They probably will initially add them to capacity-challenged routes that aren't currently served with DDs, but keep in mind that this is a huge order. Over the next five years, they're getting 253 new DD buses, and the order has an option for another 150 - though I've not heard word as to...

More, this time from @metrolinx: https://twitter.com/Metrolinx/status/710166078610141184 And yeah, gweed123 - I agree, it certainly looks like it's going faster than York did.

Just posted on Twitter by @femwriter, a pic of the Bay Concourse dig-down apparently well underway. https://twitter.com/femwriter/status/710154657625202688

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I was involved in some online payment systems a while back, and at least in some cases, credit cards have a percentage but also a minimum fee (e.g. a floor amount). The minimum can be very significant for small purchases - much greater than debit/ACH payments. Note that I have no idea whether...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The Toronto Star reports on production of new GO double deckers in Vaughan, with first deliveries expected in late May or early June.

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

I've asked, and if I recall correct, that was the response - that line 3 would be saved and used for a DRL.
