    Toronto Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Why is it necessary to replace the 'toe rail'?

    Toronto MEC Queen Street (Mountain Equipment Coop) | 21.03m | 3s | Parallax | Sweeny &Co

This building should have been red brick like the Black Bull across the street. That would fit into the streetscape and be more of an HQ vibe than cheap suburban yellow. Looking down Bulwer - is there an uglier street in Toronto?

    Toronto MEC Queen Street (Mountain Equipment Coop) | 21.03m | 3s | Parallax | Sweeny &Co

MEC just about hitting grade. Compare to same POV from 4 years ago.

    Toronto MEC Queen Street (Mountain Equipment Coop) | 21.03m | 3s | Parallax | Sweeny &Co

The parking lot has been fenced in today.

    Toronto Picasso Condos | 128.62m | 39s | Mattamy Homes | Teeple Architects

The Picasso put on a bit of a show a couple of days ago. Haven't seen this before. Anyone know if this is standard practice when turning on water for first time? Checking pressure? Fire system?

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

The Gehry street interface had to be scrapped to save a 20th century warehouse? Good thing TIFF got built on the opposite corner before planners tried to save Farb's Fast Carwash.

    Toronto Pinnacle on Adelaide | 144.47m | 46s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

South of Queen between University & Spadina is exploding with construction. This shot could be in a half dozen threads. Count the cranes.

    Toronto QRC West (Queen Richmond Centre West) | 71.93m | 17s | Allied | Sweeny &Co

The lot next to the 369 Queen W development was the Roots store that mysteriously went up in flames last year. If the lot was incorporated in the new development the Fire Marshall would want to ask some questions of the developer, but it appears the lot remains vacant and is not part of the new...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

Bringing small retailers to the area by burying them deep inside the building? The streetscape around Aura is bland, to be generous. The previous parking lot at least offered some views. As it is we've got the inevitable bank branch. What if the small retailers fronted on to Yonge & Gerrard...

    Toronto Ripley's Aquarium of Canada | 13.11m | 2s | Ripley Entertainment | B+H

As always, the CN Tower looks like crap in all the aquarium shots. Gray/brown concrete with miscellaneous patches. Why don't they apply a finish like the Enwave stack on Elm St. Now that's a striking tower. Imagine how the CN Tower would look with a uniform colour surface.

    Toronto 12° / 12 Degrees Condos | 35.66m | 11s | BSäR Group | Core Architects

Think they had some serious water issues with the site. The long ago buried Russell Creek runs right through it. They spent a lot of time with de-watering and anchors.

    Toronto 12° / 12 Degrees Condos | 35.66m | 11s | BSäR Group | Core Architects

Anyone know what's going on with this one? They started excavating after a long delay, got down about 3 meters and abruptly stopped. All the equipment is still there but no activity for the past 2 weeks or so. Long Christmas vacation?

    Toronto QRC West (Queen Richmond Centre West) | 71.93m | 17s | Allied | Sweeny &Co

Think the next step is structural steel frame requiring a different crane. Should start moving again soon.

    Toronto Dragon Condos | 37.49m | 10s | Ideal Developments | IBI Group

The Spadina-Queen-Beverley-Dundas block has been my 'hood since 1995. The housing stock in this block runs the gamut from 'tear down' single story to a new monster home, but evolution in such an old neighbourhood is very slow. As Spire states, neighbourhoods are organic creatures and change at...

    Toronto MEC Queen Street (Mountain Equipment Coop) | 21.03m | 3s | Parallax | Sweeny &Co

Great news that this is to be just two stories. Anything much higher would have blocked sunlight on The Black Bull patio.

Toronto Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts | ?m | 5s | COC | Diamond Schmitt

The only aspect of the Four Seasons Centre worth noting is from University Avenue. The other 3 sides look like an upscale Walmart warehouse (upscale because of quality brick). The face it presents to City Hall (NE corner) is just plain ugly. Such a key location and so little has come of it. It...

    Toronto 12° / 12 Degrees Condos | 35.66m | 11s | BSäR Group | Core Architects

Shaky heritage value aside, the buildings on this site are unremarkable. But the height proposed is way out of line for the neighbourhood. The condo complex to the west should set the height standard. 50 Stephanie is an outrageous intrusion on the area from the early 70s and can't be allowed to...
