Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Bus Rapid Transit

And that perception is being corrected, and Torontonians have a better understanding of LRT. BRT proponents are making no such effort. Hell, YRT calls VIVA "rapid transit" YOu found a reference on a TTC public art page. Really. That's not really terrible.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Bus Rapid Transit

Never knew the TTC was a world-wide organization. And the TTC never promoted St. Clair as LRT.

TTC: St. Clair Streetcar Right Of Way

The REVITALIZATION project was a total shit-show. Stop trying to pin the problems on the streetcar ROW.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Bus Rapid Transit

Checked out the site. Brampton and York, and Halifax's system is featured as BRT. And that is why BRT will never get the respect proponents feel it deserves. This organization that is presenting it's self as a BRT promoter is validating a limited stop service with amenities that are common in...

    Transit City Plan

Oh god.. Please do not let this turn into a subway vs. 401 debate.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

And the SELRT should resume construction this year, or next.

    Transit City Plan

Comparing transit to walking. Really? A short trip can be considered Yonge to Eglinton. You think you're going to get a lot of commuters walking that distance? I am astounded people are so obsessed with trying to determine a "fair" fare structure. It's just going to hurt the people that you want...

    Transit City Plan

What hyperbole! You surely should know the bulk of transit is local, short/medium trips, not regional travel. If transit is so expensive, why is TTC ridership growing every year? It transit is so slow, why is ridership growing? Why is there is such strong support for LRT amongst EXPERTS, and...

    Transit City Plan

Transit will never be competitive to the car, unless you're lucky to have a stop outside your house. By the time you walk to the stop, a driver is probably 10 percent into his trip. That's just the way it is. Even a transit user from Yonge/Sheppard might have trouble beating a driver, unless you...

    Transit City Plan

Other than some members on this board, and that Andrew person posting comparisons on every blog he could find, I haven't heard anyone comparing the LRT travel times to the 401 travel times in the media, or on blogs, because it's absolutely pointless. I would argue it's a red-herring just to...

You're not very fun at parties, are you?

    Transit City Plan

Finch west is not getting BRT. It's astounding that you consider queue jump lanes, and a larger bus to be BRT. Typical of pro-bus people to consider anything that is more than a bus, and a basic stop to be BRT. In other words, the 401 is not free flowing across the city.

    Transit City Plan

Say what you will about LRT. The LRT ride is far more comfortable than a bumpy bus ride. 401, free flowing traffic? haha!

Oakville plans for new "Cityval" System

Seems to me, the Mayor is sucking up to Siemens because Siemens is opening a new office in the town. Oakville will need to seriously beef up their bus system before committing to such a system. I personally like the VAL system. For me, it's the only proprietary mini-metro system that has...

Design considerations of in median surface transit ROW

I am sure we all know Cityminded could care less about transit, unless it's a subway so his precious driving time is not impeded by those evil LRT ROWs, and pedestrians! I have driven Spadina, and St. Clair, and I haven't noticed much of a difference in travel time. What I do notice on St. Clair...

    Monorail for Toronto

Why not have a read: http://seattletransitblog.com/2008/03/19/a-rehash-what-was-wrong-with-the-monorail/ I personally like this paragraph because it describes you so well!

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Hawc is a good little union hater! He wants to work 80 hours a pay for pennies, in an unsafe workplace! He has little sympathy for those who want a decent living!
