Agree w everything you said except for the 30 years part. Some high profile incidents shutting down the line will make headlines. This will be an issue on Day 1 and will need to be addressed sooner than later.

i think everyone can agree it's not attractive. to say the least. the question, what does the city do about it? just leave it there and watch it rust and get even uglier?

    Shabby Public Realm

it's easy to hate on it and this was discussed plenty when it was installed a few years ago. it was also covered in the main stream media. I'm more interested to know if the local neighbourhood, which needs to look at it every day, is doing anything about it

    Shabby Public Realm

the piece of "art" installed at Bathurst south of St. Clair about 5-6 years ago received mixed reviews when it opened. It hasn't gotten any prettier as it aged. Was curious if anyone knows what the future of this monstrosity is. At what point does the neighborhood say it makes the city less...

is this true, that there was more noise for TYSSE? why is that?

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

dude, this isn't a competition. we can all be friendly and nice here and have good discussions. no one here knows all the answers and that's okay. we don't work for the city, we're just normal people. most importantly, we are taxpayers (at least I am) to the city of toronto, province of...

what i do know is that you conveniently ignored the bit about the pond having water in it :)

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

The design called for water to remain year round and for the entire bottom to be filled with the stones. I think the latter has been discussed here already. One of the earlier materials suggested the natural ice could be used for skating (of course this is aspirational as even natural ice...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

it was meant to be a skating rink in winter. the wikipedia page for the park still says this. dont think it had to do with the perimeter wall, but budget

not a weather thing. majority of city rinks are refrigerated and can operate in mild winter temps

it's a budget thing, correct? is there a plan to enable skating in the future?

They’re both man-made, similar depths. What’s the difference besides the naming

If it were a great water feature with skating in winter and a fountain in summer , I can see the value. I feel like it’s a photogenic “instagram” park but not as useful as it should have been

i'm disappointed about this. beaver lake in montreal is not drained in the winter - why does this park need to be? why the city would allocate so much of this park to a water feature that can't be used for half the year is baffling. hopefully skateboarders start using the pond so it's not a...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I was on Front street recently and I must say the concrete pedestrian barriers look awful. I'm sure this has been discussed here. I know they were put in place quickly after the yonge st van attack. But certainly the city has found time to identify a more aesthetically pleasing solution.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

A portion of Bathurst crosses a ravine and that is what you showed in the first picture. Otherwise the street is lined with mid or high rise residential, and low rise retail. It’s not like 905 suburbs with no pedestrians. I think the lanes are wide enough that they can create bike...

If there is already a sidewalk, like on Bathurst, what is the point in making it multi-use?

how do you know these details? what about the future lane on Armour Boulevard that is currently in "study" stage?
