    The Weather

Thank you thank you thank you. This is exactly the kind of reasoning people should be looking for. I find a rather interesting but disturbing phenomenon: so many Canadians just take what the media or politicians say for granted. They believe global warming/climate change is real with just...

Hey Investors, Stop Buying Pre-construction! (you're shooting yourselves in the foot)

agree. it makes no sense to buy preconstruction any longer, since the price already includes expected appreciation in the next few years. Compare the price of a preconstruction with a similar one next door, the precon is most likely to be priced at 20% higher on a per square basis. stupid idea...

Where to invest in dt toronto?

why do you care if it is a weak or strong market, since you get the same rent return every month? So in order to get $1500 cash flow, you'd rather pay $350K rather than $225K? plus nobody guarantees the Toronto market will remain strong. Vancouver is even "stronger" why not invest there.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I don't know if the antaganism, of simply being scared of them. In the end, the vast majority of violent crimes in the US are committed by the black population, and you can't blame them for being scared, although often in an irrational and unwaranted way. If at 2 pm, I find myself followed by...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I find this kind of mockery pathetic. The mayor is fat and had some fried chicken, big deal. So high school mean girlish. Canada is a FAT country, with more than 60% people with unhealthy weight and 25% obese. It is a country of fatties.

    Toronto building boom

exactly what non-fact fantasy I have suggested in this thread? I am willing to correct it if you point it out.

    Toronto building boom

I don't know why not having been bailed out suddenly becomes something to feel proud of. Most banks in the world during the financial crisis didn't need government bailout. I mean most. Canada is just one of the many.

Where to invest in dt toronto?

Toronto's rent return sucks like hell. In Chicago or the Bay area, one bedroom condos which charge $1500/$1600 rent per month are sold in the low $200K. Here a similar property sells for 60% more.

    Rob Ford and Pride

so if it is not something people will die without, it should be banned? What kind logic is that. You don't get to tell people what they can or can't do. Casinos themselves have nothing to do with so called "social problems". There are problems only when people do it excessively. But what don't...

    Rob Ford and Pride

they are similar in the sense that it is fine to do in moderate amount (both gambling and eating) and lead to problems if done excessively, which is why I think banning casinos because gambling too much is bad is as ridiculous as banning eating because eating too much makes one fat and...

I agree that casinos have the potential to bring addiction issue. However, it is a well known fact that eating high calory food has the potential to bring obsesity problems, which may cause a social healthcare problem, does that mean the city should not ALLOW restaurants which offers unhealthy...

They are different because you choose to view them differently (in favour of one and against the other). I am not speaking for myself, but don't you think there are people out there who think casinos makes more sense than running the pride parades? They can argue that a casino brings in...

Fine. I define those who are against the 1% bigots in that case.

    Rob Ford and Pride

If that's case (personal preference shouldn't matter), most "moderate Canadians" should have no problem with running a casino or a red light disctrict in Toronto as well. If they don't appreciate them, they don't go, but it doesn't mean they should deny their money generting benefits.

What is considered "bigot" and what is not anyway? I consider those who are anti-big corporations "bigots", am I right to do that? Bigot or not, it has more to do with personal belief. Don't make it a universal thing.

    Church-Wellesley Village

Heritage and development don't have to come against each other. Protecting heritage doesn't mean everywhere remains low density and everything remains untouched. Paris has 6 times the density of Toronto and it did a hell of a great job of protecting heritage. Development does means building 40...

Future Regent Park Catholic School (20 Regent Street, TCDSB, ?s, ?)

Good news. Nothing can be worse than its current status. Those homeless shelters need to be relocated to make way for redevelopment.

Roads: Front Street East finally getting repaved

Speaking of Front street, what's with it west of Spadina. Last weekend I walked past it, and it looks purely suburban. On either side of Spadina, it is like two different worlds.

    Church-Wellesley Village

Exactly. Considering the location and its desirability, it will happen for certain. Multiple condo proposals have been put forward on Church from King to Bloor as far as I know. More people will move in and the area will experience changes. It will be unrealistic to expect the village to remain...
