The Samsung deal will increase bills $65 a year

Ontario consumers risk paying up to $65 a year extra in electricity bills because of the province's renewable energy agreement with Samsung. Article here: http://abetterenergyplan.ca/#/news/samsung_energy_deal Is it worth it?

Should Toronto Have A Set Of Standards for Potential Mayors?

Agreed. People elect the leaders they deserve. We need Ford if for no other reason to teach his converted supporters to do their research.

Downtown vs. Suburbs: Yes, It's An Ethnic Thing

In an election, it's buyer beware. Ford and his opponents said/did the things they thought would get them elected. It's the voters job to carefully consider what is true, what is not, and who is credible.

Getting Out Of Nuclear Will Cost Us

Is Ontario going to build those nuclear plants and, if not, will we pay for it? "Abandoning nuclear power comes with a cost. Alternative energy sources can't make up for a relatively clean fuel." http://abetterenergyplan.ca/#/news/abandoning_nuclear

    Love/Hate Ford

It's curious that he would go to McGuinty and tell the Premier that provincial money was tied to federal money. Turns out it's not and McGuinty can give him nothing and result in consequences. Did Ford not prepare for the meeting?

    Love/Hate Ford

That's amazing. Rob Ford has not changed from his pre-mayor self and all his previous behavior was put out there during the campaign. Did they not pay attention to anything before they voted?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Yeah, they could. See the links above you. I've never read a Margaret Atwood book either but I sure as hell know who she is and I might actually be able to spot her on the street.

Allowing Prayer sessions during school time

I know non-religious kids who say they went to Catholic school and said the religious influence was minimal and they didn't mind. However, I have met Catholic Board teachers are very religious and said they not allow kids to be non-religious in their classes. They think they can get away with...

How Can Toronto improve? How can Toronto become a better city overall?

I actually liked Ford's idea of building bike lanes in a square around the downtown core. We don't get them on every street, but it would give bikers a way to safely move around the area until you needed to enter into it. I think he said they would be dedicated lanes too.

    Love/Hate Ford

I have trouble accepting this although I know it's true. Ford was a councilor for 10 years before becoming Mayor. He didn't change overnight; he's behaving exactly as he always has. If his supporters are surprised by him, they voted with a hand over their eyes and a finger in their ear.

Will Ontarians accept higher bills for green power?

It's all about how much. Apparently, Ontario's bill are expected to rise about $700/year within the next four years. Britain has a pretty aggressive green energy policy and its citizens are rebelling against high prices. Is this our future: http://abetterenergyplan.ca/#/news/green_backlash

    Toronto 2020 Olympic Bid

I figured Canada would be ruled out for upcoming Olympics since we had Vancouver.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Rob was on the cover of McClean's a few months back. The Ford bros are making international headlines, notably Doug's 'Who's Margaret Atwood?' stuff made it into British newspapers. I like that people are talking about politics too but I wonder if all the attention plays into their narrative...

How to Make Friends In Toronto?

You have to be a little bit bold in a big city. City people are not unfriendly, there is just a lot happening around them and they have to cut out some of it to stay sane. Try visiting some highly social areas. Snakes and Lattes is a really popular coffee and board game restaurant. Make ONE...
