    Brampton 75 Clarence Street | 29.4m | 8s | Soneil Investments Inc | RAW Design

Council rejected the application, a rare move. https://www.brampton.ca/EN/City-Hall/Documents/Notice%20of%20Refusal%20-%20GSAI_OZS-2019-0006%20-%2075%20Clarence%20St.pdf

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

That was a separate railway, though – the Canada Southern/New York Central Railroad that was chiefly freight. There was a connecting track to the Grand Trunk/CN line that curved through Downtown Niagara Falls, but it was for freight transfers, not passenger rail. CN’s through passenger trains...

    East Don Trail Project

If it works at Pottery Road, it should work there. Just put the spike mats at either side and fence off the ROW. Sometimes I think Metrolinx hates active transportation and does all it can to block it.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Good luck with getting 1,000,000 people to and from Niagara Falls that day. There’s thousands of hotel rooms, sure, but most people will drive. A GO train, fully loaded, can take up to 2,000. I’d be impressed if they got 500,000.

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Though it’s still called Barrie-Collingwood Railway, it only operates between the CP Mainline at Utopia, Barrie, and Innisfil Beach Road (the stub of the former CN Beeton Sub). West of Utopia, the line is abandoned and partially removed.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Buried at the bottom of the Toronto West email newsletter is this big news: Starting Sunday, April 28, GO rail will see the largest service expansion since 2013, with increased service on Lakeshore West, Lakeshore East, Kitchener, Stouffville and Milton lines. There will be 308 new weekly rail...

Downtown Brampton Flood Protection Project - Environmental Assessment

Be careful about posting anything from The Pointer. It’s headed by a fired Toronto Star reporter who is allied with the old guard conservative councillors like ex councillor Elaine Moore. He was anti-LRT in 2015 and he is not going to get comments from progressive councillors like Santos and...

    Hudson's Bay Company

The Bay store at STC – one of the better suburban stores – locks up at 7 pm on weekdays now.

2024 Mississauga Mayoral Byelection Transit Plans

He’s a World Class candidate. He might get 15% of the vote only because of his last name and Mississauga’s Hazel cult.

    Intercity Bus Services

At the very least, there should be weekend and evening service on the Barrie-Wasaga and Barrie-Orillia routes to start, perhaps Barrie-Midland too. Hourly service is fine for the types of routes it operates; I’d rather see better connections (Tottenham, a more useful stop in Angus) and local...

    Intercity Bus Services

There is a GTR bus to Wiarton, actually. There is a transfer between Barrie and Collingwood, in a supermarket parking lot in Wasaga Beach. The Linx route between Wasaga and Collingwood is the only one to run weekends.

    Intercity Bus Services

What? Four transfers on three different agencies isn’t good enough?

    Brampton Transit/Zum

Oh, I know. I just wonder how much it has contributed to ridership growth in the last few years.

    Brampton Transit/Zum

I think Mississauga just got back to 100% or above now, for many of the same reasons that Brampton’s ridership is rocketing. Lots of industrial and logistics employment, a younger population, as well as a lot of ridership either connecting to BT or headed to Sheridan College. I wonder if...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Part of the reasoning behind running the Ontario Line to Exhibition is to relieve Union Station as well. It should be a busy transfer point and so it makes sense for express trains to stop there.

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

Yeah. They were for young white people who didn't know better. I went into one of those stores and immediately scoffed at the prices. There were a few really unique things, but I knew where to find matcha Kitkats and Pockys at minimum 1/3 or 1/4 the price.

    Brampton Transit/Zum

Ridership data is updated to December 2023. 40,907,484 rides in 2023, 30.3% growth over 2022, and 27.8% growth over 2019. https://www1.brampton.ca/EN/residents/transit/About-Us/Pages/Ridership.aspx

Mid Humber Gap Trail Study (City of Toronto)

Given the fact that the City of Toronto and the TRCA are building this trail, with plenty of experience building trails and protecting against floods, this is an especially ridiculous claim.

Toronto Ryerson's Mattamy Athletics Centre + Loblaws at the Gardens | ?m | ?s | Ryerson University | Turner Fleischer

The OHL arena in Mississauga will be needing a new tenant as the team there is moving to Brampton (I don’t get the thinking behind that one, but alas). That would have reasonable capacity, but transit access stinks.
