    Toronto YC Condos -- Yonge at College | 198.42m | 62s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

Dead Right. On Mar 1, 2012 I posted on this thread: "As many of us know, this company is congenitally incapable of creating quality buildings. Words like innovative, interesting, intelligent, and thoughtful, are not in their vocabulary. Hacks they are, and hacks they shall remain. No matter...

hey man, i hate to break it to you, but those things are NOT stone! if the subs invoices say otherwise, that's one for the lawyers.

Those beige scrabble pieces are not granite, limestone, or stone of any sort. The surface is, as Modern stated, a weird kind of cheap Ikea-like veneer. Anyone who looks at them up close can see this.

Toronto Architecture from the 1940's and 1950's

wow that is really gorgeous. in a perfect world, a building like that would be pristinely restored and returned to its original condition, including the interior.

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

It is a really beautiful looking project at night, in part because the glass itself is of such extraordinary quality, and we just rarely get to see real curves like this at such a large scale. One of the only other uses of this, at a much smaller scale, is Shim-Sutcliffe's Residence for the...

"Now, if you don't like Toronto's architecture is one things, but please the next time refrain from call my city ugly, because it's not, and you clearly never see or lived in a ugly city." Yea, that's really the kind of remark I want to seriously engage with.

My post had nothing whatsoever to do with Mr. Bear or anyone for that matter, so why he's taking it so hard i'm not sure. Anyway there really wasn't any need for his outburst of ungrammatical melodrama about my impugning the chaste and unsullied garbage-free environs of "his" city.

http://grammar.about.com/od/pq/g/psittacismterm.htm oh i knew that the minute you started posting here. ditto. and its because of that you know nothing about western aesthetics.

Nope, none of those things. Just an incoherent mess of mediocre to bad buildings. Btw, its not your city. Further, many of the paranoid anti-urban imagos you're throwing up: drunks, pushers, graffiti, "overflowing" trash bins, and um, double parking, have very little to do with the aesthetic...

    Toronto Residences at the RCMI Condos | 134.72m | 42s | Tribute | Zeidler

wow, putting up some very stiff competition there! in any event, i think we have now identified the three worst facadectomies in the city.

You know what, I think you're right! If I "want to talk about a solid zagged rich looking building in this city, I don't care what people think the Scotia Tower takes the prizes." Case closed.

Toronto Architecture From The 1960's and 70's

indeed the Olympic Village looks to be very inspired by the Vele Di Scampia development http://www.cityvisionweb.com/mag/under-the-hard-sails/ http://www.ilgiornaledellarchitettura.com/articoli/2014/7/120480.html

i really hope not. expensive red granite or not, one "vaguely pomo" open zipper building is plenty.

Toronto Architecture From The 1960's and 70's

This is true in many ways. Sometimes i take photographs of buildings from this era because they are important and/or beautiful, Scarborough College for instance. Other times i photograph them because they are either paradigmatic of the time, in some good and not so good ways. In other cases, it...
