    TTC Subway Track Replacement

They're going to cancel this in favor of a subway?

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

If I understood correctly, you're referring at the parts of the subway network that do not consist of the wooden railroad tie, right? Such as the stations for example?

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Yes, all the above have a lot to do with this. TTC tunnels are too tight? You mean by the overcrowded stations during rush hour? Yes, this is necessary and will be very helpful. I didn't quite understand. Excavating which tunnel bottom?

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Of course, to relieve congestion, a Downtown relief line would be a nice addition to the subway network. But I won't discuss this here because it's off-topic.

I'll post more in a bit.

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Ok, in this part, acceleration and deccelation of the trains and distances between the stations have a lot to do with this. The faster it accelerates and deccelerates, the shorter time it will need to reach its' top operating speed, thus it will longer travel with its' top operating speed...

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Very well. Let's just stick with the "advantages" only. "Very beneficial" is just too much, so I'll drop that term. Yes, my timing of the BD line that I mentioned above includes the stops, passengers boarding/disembarking the train, etc. When you say "speed profile", you mean average speed if I...

I only wanted to share an idea and discuss it. That's all. If my posts are worthless or bothering/offending, then please ignore them. Thanks.

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

@ Asterix, you overestimated this word. When I said very beneficial, I clearly meant advantages. Now, if the term "very beneficial" is overkill for the meaning of advantages, my bad. Before I continue on, in the BD line, section from Kipling to Bathurst, a distance of 10.9 kilometers and 13...

80 KMH? I didn't know that. I did hear something that they operated at 65 KMH. At least on the Sheppard line. Anyhow, regarding acceleration, yes acceleration does play an important role in speed. However, longectivity would be an advantage of this type of track and that smooth feel.

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Yes, that's true, since that section is a straghtline. At that section, do the trains reach 80 KMH?

How long does it take from Kipling to Chester?

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

You didn't understand me right. My proposal was for the TTC subway. My experience was from a subway outside of Canada. Yes, I'm aware of this too.

Only Kipling to Islington section? I thoutght the rest of the BD and YUS lines used wooden ties...

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Besides the advantages I mentioned above, I would like to state some things more. I have riden a subway (outside of Canada) uncountable times that used to work with the wooden railroad tie. Now they're replacing it with the slab track. To make a long story short, at one section, a distance of...

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Something like that, yes. Definately this track supports ultra high speeds. I think this type of track is used in Japan for its' very high speed trains. Of course, an urban public transportation will never approach 200 KMH. But 80 KMS at a distance of1 kilometer approximately between stations...

    TTC Subway Track Replacement

Yes, the distances between the stations do play a very imortant role for speed. 1 kilometer distance between stations is ideal for the train to achieve full speed, with no need to accelerate and decelerate agressively. At least from my experience. I know some stations are spaced under 1...
