It's pretty good, with one minor correction on my part: it's "Earlscourt" not "Earlescourt".

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Not a terrible guess, it might even be on the low side. I think CP would hold fast for a provided replacement right of way, which once you start factoring in building a new ROW and all that entails (trackwork, signalling, junctions, expropriations, road under/overpasses, etc.) would be...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Have a google of the Arbutus railway corridor in Vancouver, to see how CP is playing hardball there. I would expect the same, if not worse here, the sort of thing that ends up in court for years.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

+1 On that note, there's got to be a way to motivate architects/designers to work with the concept of elegantly done, simpler, stations.

Rail: Ontario-Quebec High Speed Rail Study

AoD: A better idea, to my mind at any rate, would be to focus on getting realistic federal money into transit, where it could generate a more immediate impact to a larger number of people. Broadly speaking, HSR is an expensive project that benefits a small, when compared to the number of...

Rail: Ontario-Quebec High Speed Rail Study

I agree entirely. The only way this thing can work is if it serves to compete directly with short haul flights, and can siphon off some of that passenger volume. Which leaves in the hands of a comparatively small number of MPs/MPPs/MNAs to lobby for it.

Rail: Ontario-Quebec High Speed Rail Study

+1 Especially when considering that on any given route a fair number of potential passengers (outside of Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa) would have to drive to a station that might be a fair distance from where they live. Hardly a convenient option, and less likely to appeal than say a new...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

We had one of those here (Dufferin/Rogers) up until a year or two ago. Ancient fellow, who came around with his treadle powered grinding wheel, ringing a bell, and charging a buck a knife. So-so sharpening, but I usually went for it out of sheer nostalgia.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Might not be a terrible idea as a special events only station. Days like the Queen's Plate can draw 30-40000 people, and there's not really a transit option that is remotely appealing.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Saw it on St. Clair earlier today, wb just west of Caledonia, fwiw.

That's not strictly true, some of us move here and determine they much prefer Toronto. I'm a rare bird, a Vancouverite that really doesn't care much for where he was born. That said, the transit system really is pretty good. There's a few things we could learn from there, like the B-Line...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

I've got to disagree with you. Living near there, I can state first hand that there is no shortage of park space. I can also say, more often than not, that space is empty. But that's all beside the point I made, which is that the cul-de-sac could be re-purposed as a small loop, which isn't part...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

Charming. The addition of small plaza that won't be very well maintained is hardly going to be the reason people flock to Duff/Eg. There's a large park just down the street, complete with pool, playing fields, and a community centre, so I don't think parkland is in short supply.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

They could just turn the Vaughan Road cul-de-sac into a simple bus loop. I can't see that costing too much.

Nothing comparable to traffic data, or TTC ridership figures, then.

Truly one of the best City departments.

Does anyone know if there is any actual data as to the number of cyclists on any given route or at an intersection? So far, without any real numbers, all of this boils down to "I cycle, ergo untold millions cycle" or "I drive, ergo nobody cycles". It seems that neither side has any...

Also, many members of different Masonic Lodges, multiple Orange Order Lodges, and maybe (just maybe) a Catholic.

It also makes sense to have the streetcars stored at different points on the network. It saves on deadheading cars in/out of service, and provides a bit of redundancy in case of road closures etc.
