since we're on police corruption...
No wonder many in the legal community believe Peel is the wild west of policing — where the cowboys are running the show.

Toronto Star released a story that described the misuse of these "proceeds of crime" victims funds, where the Peel Police Board was purchasing tens of thousands of dollars worth of tickets to various Swanky Mayoral Galas, not only implicating the Peel Police in almost corrupt victims funds misuse, but also the Mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion (who is no stranger to allegations of corruption), and also the former Mayor of Brampton, Susan Fennell, both who have sat on these Police Boards while these spending travesties occurred.

The Peel Police Board is not alone in this corrupt spending of crime victims' funds, as the Toronto Police Board has been guilty of exactly the same. Back in December, the Toronto Sun's Joe Warmington reported that the Toronto Police Board approved spending victims of crime funds on $600,000 for a Police Christmas Party, $9,000 on a cricket pitch upgrade, $21,000 for fitness equipment and other disgraceful usages.

Canadian corruption hit all new heights last week as three officers from Toronto, Ontario posted $15,000 bail after being arrested for gang raping a parking enforcement officer in a hotel room — in downtown Toronto.

The officers are still out on bail and haven’t made any comments.

According to the Toronto Sun, Joshua Cabero (28), Leslie Nyznik (38), and Sameer Kara (31) are barred from drinking, they can’t go to work, they can’t contact any of the 20 potential witnesses — plus the alleged victim — they’re banned from three clubs, and they aren’t allowed to handle any firearms.
[...]
Not surprisingly, in 2013 Leslie Nyznik — one of the accused — was the main player in the covering of a severe beating of a chef by Toronto officer Christian Dobbs. The judge who presided over the trial was quoted to call Nyznik’s unstable testimony “incredulous.”

What’s more, the officers will now be applying to have their legal bills paid for by the Toronto Police Association, so not only will the citizens of Toronto have to pay their salary, but they’ll also have to pay the vast amounts of money to their legal team to defend their actions.

In a city that was run for years by a known gang affiliated crackhead, should we really be surprised the police are just as dirty? We would have to be fools.

The accused are also banned from attending three downtown bars, including The Brass Rail and are also prohibited from possessing weapons.

Bail conditions are that they can’t possess or drink alcohol, they can’t contact alleged victim or long list of witnesses, they can’t go to 51 Division, they can’t go to the Westin Harbour Castle or the parking enforcement east office or the bars that attended the night of the alleged incident.

They can’t go to CC Lounge on Front St., Pravda Vodka House on Wellington St., or The Brass Rail on Yonge St. The Westin Harbour Castle is also off limits and no alcohol or firearms.

So, about a page later, we may be getting closer to the "weird thing" between TPS and our ex-mayor.

I've expressed my growing suspicion that the cops weren't trying to catch or charge Robbie, but to both protect him and themselves from Robbie getting whacked by his bad lifestyle choices on THEIR/Blair's watch. I wonder if any of the press outlets have initiated a FOI request for the amount of time, cop-power and costs they incurred in their investigations, especially since all it produced were extortion charges against Lisi.

Enquiring minds, eh?

Maybe it's not part of their everyday production, but they're clearly able to produce something like this:

... with their trademark flair for graphic design.

I had a product about a decade ago that needed labels/packaging printed. Deco, at that time, was unable to do the packaging in-house but had partners who could help. My employer went a different way.

They may have equipment for large-scale one-off proofs, or boards for sales pitches, but it's just as likely their team designed the graphics and paid another company to print the signs.

Funny thought I've been thinking, reflecting on summer box office figures: Ford in 2010 as the "Straight Outta Compton" to Smitherman's "Fantastic Four".

I think there is, or officially was, more than one admin for their page, so the use of "we" would have been appropriate. On occasion, the page seemed less insane and childishly angry - I think Flagg left the updates to others at that time. Now that Doug appears to be concentrating on Deco and Rob becomes a smaller player, it looks to me as if Flagg is running the admin duties himself.

In the early days, wasn't Connie Harrison co-admin? Y'know, self-styled St James Town-dwelling NDP-supporting single mom, or something like that. (She broke with Ford Nation for good after Doug went autistic-group-home-bashing IIRC)

So, yeah; I guess Flagg might/must be aww awone now.

Just noticed - if you look at their Twitter account, it's just Flagg now.

Even though Americans generally don't accept socialist ideas about inequality, I think many of the working class are resentful and want to see someone appeal to them and shake up the establishment. It might not even be an improvement for American society overall--a Trump presidency might create new winners and losers in society--but poorer people with little to lose can take that chance. It makes more sense than supporting the establishment because that doesn't result in substantial gains in wealth. There are many parallels between Rob Ford and Donald Trump. We know an uncouth, unintellectual populist can rise to power on a wave of popularity. Working class people will support that kind of charismatic leader with a self-made image if he appeals to them with certain policies.
