2015 Federal Election

Regardless of how it goes down, I feel there's a different vibe this election. Somehow people are itching to change things.

I think that's why 29 Conservative MPs; McKay, Hiebert, Mayes, Harris, Baird, Paradis, Glover, Ablonczy, Moore, Benoit, Goldring, Hawn, Rajotte, Storseth, Payne, Breitkreuz, Vellacott, Komarnicki, Boughen, Smith, Bruinooge, Schellenberger, Preston, Devolin, Davidson, Norlock, Allen, Keddy and Kerr left in advance of the election, and partly why two other former MPs; Brown and Jean left to run successfully for provincial party leadership roles.

Most of these are new MPs, so they're not jumping to secure pensions, but likely either sick of the job or know they're going to get smoked.

Am I the only one not up in arms about this Mulcair to the Conservatives "scandal?" The goal is to defeat Harper and getting mad about something that happened in 2007 won't help...

It is not a "scandal" in any way. All it does it show that Harper is nothing like the extemist that people portray him. Mulcair only tlaked to Harper becasue Harper is a moderate.

Well, if you go by American terms, that would be correct. Still though, he is to the right of the old PC party.

No, your not the only one who isn't bother by this, in fact this could backfire on the Conservatives. They really can't say he's "not ready" if they themselves thought he was good enough to bring into the Conservative fold.

The CPC is losing ground everywhere. Even in their stronghold of Alberta, their lead is down.

I would love if it backfired on them.

Something doesn't seem right to me about not dropping/writing the writ yet? Harper can call an election anytime from today to September 13th and still meet the October 19th fixed date, since the Canadian Election Act specifics 36 days minimum that must be held for an election. Calling it will limit third-party spending from groups like Engage Canada and with the minimal date so early in September, it's not like Parliament isn't going to be sitting, he's basically Prime Minister in name only at this point.

I can't see St Pauls going anything but Liberal, but that gives me free reign to vote NDP without worry.

If the NDP somehow pick up St Pauls, then they are headed for a majority government. :p

St. Paul's is in many respects the most Liberal riding in Canada: too educated to vote Conservative, too rich to vote NDP.

On the other hand, with the NDP picking up among the university educated and with the unpopularity of C-51, I wouldn't be surprised to see the NDP make a serious play for the riding.

It must be said that the local MP for St. Pauls, Carolyn Bennett, is a fantastic MP and representative that I would not want gone from Parliament.

Will the Tories run attack ads on Mulcair saying he's a radical socialist...that we tried to recruit?
