Newsletter dated January 2021 just received from Lanterra. Here's excerpt for Artists' Alley: "Thanks to the hard work of our staff and trades, Artists' Alley has continues to move forward at high momentum despite these challenging times, 50 plus days were accrued on the construction schedule...

The seemingly terminal decline of Tim Hortons

I haven't signed on to this board for years so this is the first time I've seen this thread. I remember going to Tim Hortons with my parents as a kid in the 70's and smelling the freshly baked donuts and freshly brewed coffee. I remember we'd go early in the morning especially for the fresh...

    Toronto Artists' Alley | 121.91m | 39s | Lanterra | Hariri Pontarini

The Lanterra newsletter for June 2020 includes a short blurb about Artists' Alley: "Overall this project has three buildings and all are being constructed at the same time. We are currently working on the foundation of one of the buildings. The concrete placing pump for this building has been...

    Hudson's Bay Company

I haven't really been following this but I'm not sure it makes sense having Saks at the Queen St. store as it's not a "high end" location. Wouldn't it make more sense to renovate the Yonge/Bloor store to become Saks to compete with Holt and other high end stores.

    Willowdale East / Bayview Village

People have been saying house prices will drop for over a decade. I have a friend who continued renting starting back in 1997 hoping for prices to "correct" and he's still renting and waiting today! Even in the 2008/9 recession, house prices didn't really fall - they just didn't increase as...

    Willowdale East / Bayview Village

I have a friend who built a 2,500 sq. ft. house for around $700,000 or $280/ sq. ft cost about 10 years ago. Today, we talked to construction people who build/renovate houses and they say it's about $300-$400 / sq. ft. to build a custom luxury house. That's in line with our friend's cost...

    Willowdale East / Bayview Village

This is the area known as C14 in the MLS map, bordering North-South by Finch and Hwy 401 and West-East by Yonge and Bayview, spilling into East of Bayview (Bayview Village area). We are looking for houses in this area. Spoke with many Real Estate Agents who say this is one of the hottest area...

    Uniqlo

I'm one of those typical guys who hates to shop but found Uniqlo in Bangkok (of all places) and bought a bunch of stuff there for cheap. They're not cutting edge stuff but the quality is very good, good QPR. I also found them in Manhattan which is a humongous store and bought more stuff there...

What's your favourite non-Cantonese Chinese restaurant in downtown?

You're better off posting this question in Chowhound. A friend of ours from China said there's a good Szechuan/Sichuan restaurant somewhere in Chinatown but forgot the name. Otherwise, all the good Chinese restaurants of any style is up in Markham/Richmond Hill.

    NY Times Article about Toronto

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/02/travel/torontos-ethnic-buffet.html?hpw&rref=travel&_r=0 Toronto getting noticed in New York and it's not about Rob Ford! Talks a lot about multiculturalism which is Toronto's signature card these days. It's a positive article and reminded me of some places...

    Anthony Bourdain on Toronto

I'm not sure if you're serious, but seeing pictures and being there are apples and oranges. I think there's merit in the many who said that Bourdain has visited almost every major places in the world and thus his opinion does have carry weight due to his experiences. I've travelled all over...
