On one of the maps for the extension, it shows a dotted line going further north past Richmond Hill station. Does that imply that Hillcrest Mall will the last stop or potentially Aurora?
In the case of a grade separated EELRT, what would happen to the plans for the Morningside Crossing (Lawrence/Morningside) station? It has the potential to be a "mini Kennedy" for that area, handling the northbound trains to UTSC and Malvern Town Centre, as well as for any Durham buses using...
A number of years back, there were plans for "point towers" over 50 stories in downtown Markham and at Buttonville Airport. Are those still in the pipeline? I seem to remember that there were very tall buildings planned for the Langstaff area in Thornhill as well (way west of Markham downtown)
Wasn't there talk in the late 70's or early 80's of extending the BD line past Kennedy all the way to Pickering Town Centre? I'm not sure if it was just idle chatter or if any study had gone into this.
I don't know this wasn't planned instead of that "foot tunnel" to the airport. An LRT line (via tunnel) to he airport would have been an awesome addition to the revitalization. I don't foresee one to the "main" islands. I don't think the islanders would want *that* much city traffic coming...
I think a Lawrence LRT would more likely go to Don Mills on the Crosstown line.
An ideal Lawrence East route would be from a station at Morningside (linking with the Malvern LRT) with stops at Galloway, Orton Park, Scarborough Golf Club, Markham (with a terminal allowing a branch up Markham...
Is this the site just across the street that has Sunrise Records? Wasn't there an article in a local paper a while back saying that this site was planned to be huge in square footage? How tall can they go there?
This would be a great idea. Building a terminus in the old Morningside Mall area would be a huge transit hub for people going to/coming from Durham, UTSC, Malvern and western Scarborough. The GO station would also be a good area for a transit hub, a much much smaller "Union Station East" would...
I remember reading a few years ago in a local gay publication that the LGBT community was heading to West Queen West, but a lot were going east of Leslieville to areas like Gerrard and Main, Danforth or other areas. I wonder if Little India's hipsterization will also be a beacon for the gay...
Interesting. Has anyone heard anything moving on potential sites at LCBO lands, Loblaws or 45 Bay? This would create a massive dense area that would need a lot of public transit. Could a subway be built in this area or is it too close to the lake (risk of flooding).
It will be interesting to...
The stretch of Bloor from Sherbourne to Spadina will be greatly "Miracle Miled" kin he next decade or so. I can see very tall buildings and huigh class shops straight across. Does anyone know if they will develop that parking lot at Church?
I've always wondered why Victoria Park station would be either built as underground in either the No Frills parking lot or in Eglinton square's. It would probably have a large bus bay and would even intercept some Lawrence 54 buses as well, I know there were plans for some huge condos at...
This also has the potential to be an away-from-downtown "carriage trade" district, like Bel Air or Beverly Hills does for LA. I can foresee a DRL sparking a bigger redevelopment of the Don Mills area from the Celestica all the way up to Fairview Mall, should the line terminate there. It would be...
Is that building just to the east of 10 Dundas East going to be torn down? It would make a great place to put an additional hotel or "vertical mall" to complement the others in the area.
I may be wrong but weren't there rumours a while back that 10 Dundas East would get some kind of amusement...
