Looking at condo downtown – status certificate says 80% of units are rented...concern

Yes West Harbor city is very nice. Love Plaza Corp buildings. Yes, it is a huge change I have made... I realized I have not put nearly enough thought as to where I want to live. After not wanting to live in a place with 80% renters, I started to really realize how large this city is, and how...

living in townhouse at Lawrence/Dufferin (Allen & 401 area) vs downtown condo

You are right, I really need to start looking at other parts of the city and stop being so set on a few specific places. I guess because I know people in certain neighborhoods is why I have considered them. Yes I like St. Lawrence market and would love to live in the area. However I have...

getting condo inspection? needed on 2 year old condo? cost?

Thanks. Turned out the status certificate specified 80% units were rented... lawyer advised that this could be a bad thing. I signed a mutual release paper and sent it to my realtor, next step now is getting back my deposit money. It currently sits in trust with the seller's brokerage...

Looking at condo downtown – status certificate says 80% of units are rented...concern

Living with mainly rental tenants is a big concern, right? The building appeared to be kept well, but most of the time I visited was during the day (not at night when all hooligans tend to come out), and the building is relatively new.

Looking at condo downtown – status certificate says 80% of units are rented...concern

I wasn't able to see that, but apparently maintenance was around 50k a year and this past year it jumped to 100k which is a huge jump. But then again that may be normal for a relatively new building, to have some issues in the first few years. I am more concerned about living with mainly...

Looking at condo downtown – status certificate says 80% of units are rented...concern

I am looking at a condo downtown (Bathurst and Fort York). I was looking at purchasing it however the condo status certificate shows that there is *at least* 80% of people there lease. The building seems to be decently up kept, but this really worries me as I plan to live there for two years...

living in townhouse at Lawrence/Dufferin (Allen & 401 area) vs downtown condo

Thanks for the comments thus far. Ill go take a look at it tonight during rush hour. I am worried that the condo I am looking at, at Bathurst and Fort York for the same price, simply isn't as good of a buy. I work at Bay and Dundas, and the commute time from Bathurst/Fort York via streetcar...

Renting in DT Toronto - What's the deal?

I have a nice 1 bedroom unit, i'd estimate to be around 580 sq-ft with a large storage closet, at Bay & Gerrard that I would sublet for $1500/mo with all utilities included (heat, hydro, AC, water). Move-in date would be May 1, however I would need deposit and check's before Feb 24 to get the...

living in townhouse at Lawrence/Dufferin (Allen & 401 area) vs downtown condo

I have been looking to buy a condo downtown toronto. However I see some great deals on townhomes up town, by Dufferin and Lawrence (401 and Allen Rd area) which are relatively new (around 5-10 years old) for the same price as I was looking to spend on a condo downtown at liberty village or Fort...

getting condo inspection? needed on 2 year old condo? cost?

I am buying a resale condo unit downtown Toronto, and need to know if I really need to get an inspection done? Between myself and family members, we are fairly competent when it comes to basic construction know-how, and do our own renovations. That said, is it still wise to get an...
